Just bought a 95 SLS and have a few problems.

1. The passenger door lock switch works when I lock the car, but doesn't move to the unlock position when I unlock the doors. It does lock and unlock manually though.

2. The back windows won't work, even when I use the switches on the back doors.

3. The Security light comes on when I start the car, but does not come back on when I am exiting the car to let me know the alarm is set. In fact, when I did the test outlined in the manual the theft system did not activate.

4. The outside mirrors work intermittedly (when they want to)

5. The inside rear view mirror jiggles on its post.

Can anyone help me find out how to fix some of these problems?

P.S. There are no blown fuses and I checked all three boxes.:hmm:

1- Door lock actuator failure. Common. You replace the part that grabs the car body when the door is shut. Its inside the door.

2- Stuck windows. Common. Try slamming the door while holding the 'down' switch. 85% will start working.

3- Could be related to #1. Could be a door switch problem.

4- Dont know

5- Common. Cadillac has a TSB for a loose mirror mount. Their fix is to replace the mirror. Yeah right...... You will have to shim the mirror mount somehow.

I may be able to help with the security issue. I have the same car same year and was trying to figure out why I couldn't get the alarm to sound off. When you insert the key into the ignition and turn on, the security light iluminates to inform you that the resistor pellet in the key has been accepted and you can continue to start the car. If the security light doesn't iluminate/flash when you turn the ignition off, this means the vehicle is not fitted with the anti theft alarm. Sorry, sounds like a bum deal to me:crying2:

I have similar problems on my 95 Eldo. When I use the remote to lock and unlock the doors, I can push unlock (on the remote) the door doesn't unlock AND I cannot use the key to unlock the door. But if I push lock on the remote, I CAN use the key to unlock the door. I don't understand. This is for the drivers door only since the key doesn't unlock or lock the passenger door at all.

If you're using the keyfob to unlock and lock the doors, it should work as follows... press the lock button once to lock all doors. When you press unlock, it should ONLY unlock the driver's door. Pressing it a second time within a second or two should unlock the remaining doors. Hate to say that it's that easy...

It sounds like your mirrors, if both a intermittently working, are not at fault here. It would probably be the switch that controls them. See about replacing this with a used unit or cleaning the switch contacts, if that's at all possible.
