Hello, I am looking at purchasing a '93 Seville STS with 101K miles on it. The body interior is PERFECT, it has all the bells and whistles, CD Player sliding sun roof, etc... I have heard the the suspension goes out on these cars at around 125-130K miles, I have also heard that the engine quite often goes at around 170K, because it is aluminum, Is ther any truth to that? Unforunatly I dont have time to go looking trough the forums today (I have to go leave to test drive it:D ) The guy that I am buying it from also mentioned that it has a slight flutter in the tranny when put in overdrive:suspense: but also that it hasnt had a tranny service. If anybody has had any experiences wiht this model, and could give me some insight, i would be very appreciative, Thanks a lot for any help/advice.:D

I have a 94 STS with 125K ish on it. Front suspension is beat. However the engine still runs beautifully. Although I do have a tranny leak that I can't locate I'm sure it's only an isolated incident. Overall I love the car and I'm glad I bought it. I also have flowmaster's on it and a CAI (sounds beautiful). I just LOVE seeing the looks on the faces of ricer's when they are brutally destroyed by an "old man's" car. It's a combination of :bonkers: + :rant2: + :banghead: LOL
The Northstar engines do not "go around 170K because it is aluminum". I have heard from guys who have 300K on them. The cooling system MUST be maintained. On a '93 that means coolant change every two years and add sealant pellets or two tubes of "Bars Leak Gold". If it has never been touched you could be looking at head gaskets in the near future. Walk away and find another. To do that the engine needs to be removed $$$$$. Once the heads are removed the bolt holes must be "Timeserted" (similar to helicoil) to prevent the threads from pulling in the future.
The electronic struts do tend to go bad but can be repaced with "passive" (non-electric) struts. OEM struts can run as much as $800 each. Passive will be MUCH cheaper but of coarse you'll loose the RSS (Road Sensing Suspention) and you'll have to wire in a resistor to eliminate the "Service Suspension" message.
