Picked up a sweet '89 Brougham a couple of months back to replace my '88. Unfortunately, she's now spewing big beautiful clouds of white smoke out the tail pipe after 10 minutes or so of driving. I'm guessing head gasket, but haven't looked into it very deeply. Anyone have an general idea of the cost to fix? Or - could it be something else???

Is it losing coolant? Does the smoke smell like antifreeze? If your 88 still has a good engine it would almost be easier to just swap them,at least you know what you have and it's probably less work ,all things considered.

Do me a favor. Check your oil. If the headgasket is going, then more than likely the oil will be milky. Do this and you should confirm it.
