I can't find the tablets anywhere so I bought a bottle of bars leak like R6 on their website. http://www.barsproducts.com/origin.html

Is that ok to use?

Hmmm...
All the products listed on that page belong to the same family. So, I don't see a reason why R6 or C16 liquid would be bad...

I conducted an unofficial and non-scientific test and I think that R6 or c16 are the same as those "dog turd" tabs.

I dissolved the tabs in water and compared them to C16. They smell and look the same. The sediment is also the same. So, I think they are similar - should be ok to use the liquid.
It is probably same stuff as on those turds, just dissolved in liquid (water?).

What is not recommended is those Bar's Copper ot Aluminum leak seal products.

Your scientific experiment doesnt test it under high temps or under the same circumstances as the coolant water mixture in ur cooling system. Nothing is really proved, but Ive read here and on another forum that people have used the liquid to bad results. I would just stick with the proven and recommended (by GM and BBOB and others) powder or tabs........its not like its expensive.

The pellets in the BarsLeaks bottle of dark liquid are the same exact pellet material that is in the GM coolant supplement or the BarsLeaks golden seal powder. Same stuff. However......

The BarsLeaks in the gray bottle with the dark liquid is OK to use but not really recommended specifically for the Northstar engine. The dark liquid is a soluable oil that is supposedly in there to "lubricate the water pump seal".....hmmm...not required. The soluable oil can cause foaming in very high flow water pump systems (like the Northstar) so that is why it is not recommended. it is probably OK in the 4.x engines but I would still look for the dry BarsLeaks products for normal use.

What is specifically not recommended in either the 4.x engines or the Northstar is the BarsLeaks "liquid aluminum" stuff....or any other brand of sealant that has metallic particles in it.

I would not use the BarsLeaks material that is in the dark liquid (it comes in jars and gray bottles) unless it is an emergency and you have to stem a leak to drive the car home..... For normal maintenance and to keep the sealer replenished on a regular basis with frequent coolant changes find the BarsLeaks powder or the tabs....or go to the GM dealer and get the GM coolant supplement pellets. They are available from any GM dealer. Keep the dark liquid soluable oil out of the Northstar cooling system unless it is really really necessary in an emergency.

You misunderstood me. If you look at my post, it says "I conducted an unofficial and non-scientific test"
:rolleyes2

As always, BBOB comes through with an in-depth explanation. He rocks !

No misunderstanding....I knew what you were talking about but any experiment is scientific whether in depth or not. Just tryin to put out that you should go out and get the pellets or powder.:)
