: Fleetwood is a hit at Chevy Vettefest!

This weekend was Chevy Vettefest here in Chicago. I entered my '96 Fleetwood along with some '96 Impalas from the local club: The HERD.

It was a great weekend. I dropped the car off Friday night and thought I got it looking pretty good.... then come back Saturday morning to find a layer of dust on it and had to start all over again.

The car was judged around 1pm on Saturday. Three judges came over and had LED flashlights, long qtips, and rags to check every nook & cranny.

I scored a 943/1000. I won a Silver award! Most of my points were deducted for undercarriage. Most of the owners there have lifts or access to a lift, so they can shine their exhaust, frame rails, and wheel wells to their hearts desire.

There were about 600 cars there, some worth half a million dollars! It was an honor to have been accepted to display my car there. The Fleetwood was a hit! I walked around hearing people tell each other to check out the Caddy (it was the only Cadillac in the show).

I met some great people, even the owner of a local Cadillac dealership who was amazed with what I did with a Fleetwood.

Here are a few pics:

Take care,

Old Fleetwood

To approach 1,000 points with a bunch of judges who swab your frame with Q-tips speaks volumes about the blood, tears and sweat you put into the prep you did.
Nice going.
You ought'a be on:cloud9:

Damn I wish I could have made it. I know I said I was gonna go but my grandfather is back in the hospital again so I spent most of the day with him.

Very nice!. I personally would not have the patience to doll a car up like that for a show. Instead, I like to attend as a spectator but dont really even have time for that anymore. Last time I entered a car show was with my '67 Cutlass w/461 Olds. Definately a good time and I still have the 3rd place trophy.

This was the biggest show I entered the Fleetwood in so far, I learned alot from the judges and other contestants.

The three Impalas I was with from the HERD have never been daily drivers and all had under 40K miles.

My car was a daily driver for 10 years and has 91K miles. I spent a good day and a half detailing the car, while these other guys were prepping for a week.

Next year I am going for a Gold!
