maybe you should have a second opinion on that...if the tranny is shifting fine and not slipping, then i would not worry about that. however, i think there can be a "whine" sound when the vaccume modulator is restricted, so maybe you should check the hoses leading to that. another thing to look into for whining is the power stearing unit, those can make the same sound. again, get a second opinion on the noise, then work from there.

I can't see how the trans would have a whine... I'd check the PS first, then the water pump. Both tend to make noise on these cars.
