Hello all,

First a hello to what looks to be a great place to be. I recently sold a car I restored (1st attempt at it), a 1970 Chevelle Malibu

.....and enjoyed every minute of it...partly because nothing was ever much of a stressful situation...simple ole hard work...cause car was rough...real rough when I bought it 7 years ago.

Well now to my new endeavor...a 1967 Cadillac Deville Convertible.

I bought it off craigslist in Detroit from a really nice gentlemen. The pictures got my attention and I actually bought it sight unseen (other than high resolution pictures the owner sent to me).

While in my opinion the car looks great, it is a 10 footer...if you know what I mean. I love the House of Kolors Green and I hope to be able to keep that color because most of the car's sheet metal is good and paint is VERY nice. However the lower quarters in front of the rear wheels are very bad...bottom 6 inches is rottttttt. Had the same thing in my chevelle and was able to buy patch panels...presto problem fixed. I have am not able to find metal anywhere...am I missing some magical cadillac place with replacement knockoff stuff? That is one example of things I need help with from you cadillac guys....and hopefully one day very soon I'll be cruising as a cadillac guy too. The car is nice overall but does have a list of things that I want to check, fix before driving it. I'll bullet them below because I've already been long winded and maybe you guys can respond to some of them or email me at jason@excellgrp.com.

Here we go:
* Operational manual (other than ebay). So many little things that I don't know how to operate on the car and would love to read through how the factory intended on things to work...maybe you have one by email?
* Bolt pattern? I want to replace existing 15" wire rims with something like below (not bagged) and don't know offsets etc.

* Patch panels for rear quarter panels in front of rear wheels.
* Convertible top parts...top will not raise or lower without physical assistance. Seems like motor is weak or if this is something else please let me know.
* Chrome parts: Headlamp bezels (not entire bezel, just inner part) wheel trim molding, door handles etc. Someone in the past made them gold...want them back to chrome with expensive plating (only one place within 100 miles and they are expensive).
* Interior panels, parts, seat covers, door panels etc. Car originally had a black interior and want to go back to it. It now has white and off color green checker board seats etc. Interior needs freshing up...8 years since replacement.
* Old owner said replace front right wheelbearing before driving much distance. Any comments on this from other cadi owners?
* Trans leaks...Haven't inspected it from a lift yet but just know it does. Anything to know about these transmissions?
* Car has chrome valve covers. I heard they were not available for this engine 429. Is that true, maybe engine is other type of engine. Where and how can I look at casting number (and get to them) to verifiy what engine is?

Overall car is nice. It wont be a show car soon due to Michigan Rust but it could be a nice daily driver for my wife and I and our 4 girls...so any help is great appreciate. Sorry for long post. Sincerely, Jason

Very nice, I am kinda partial to the 67, 68's of course.

I dont have a ton of advice but, my tranny leaks too so please share if you figure it out. I would think most tirerack.com type places will have the wheel offsets on file, although I have never tried. I cant wait to see how it turns out. Keep us posted often!
