Hello, so while driving along at like 45mph when i give it light throttle just to keep the car at speed i get a very annoying whine from im guessing the middle of the car on the passenger side, if i give it more gas or let off the sound is gone. I was reading stuff about that meaning a trans issue or even down to just a filter needing changed. Any ideas?

Check the outer shell of your catalytic converter.

Someone once said it could be a clogged transmission filter, but I'd be more inclined to believe it's the differential.

My Brougham is doing a similar thing. I at first believed it to be a transmission issue, but I changed my fluid and filter and the noise still persists. Do you also get a bit of a noise during heavy turns in either direction? How about during braking when slowing to a stop?

no i dont have any noise when im coming to a stop or anything like that...just under the light throttle. And when you guys say its my rear diff do you mean its shot or just needs some maintenance?

I dont know what it needs. I havent looked at mine yet. After the shop rebuilt my tranny, they just said that my rear diff is whinning. I think I'm just gonna get a different rear end with disk brakes. Anybody know what car I could take this from?

Are you talking about the 93-96 broughams, do they have the rear disc?

The '77 - '79s do, I'm not positive as to this option on other years. I believe these earlier units will fit your later frames.
