First I apologize if this was covered, but I could not find. I am sure I have read that someone has tried this setup. I know all the debate for GSD3's but my local dealer has made me a hell of an offer for this size only. Will these rub or should I stagger these and stay with 245/45 for the front. Thanks!

There are differing opinions on this. Mine is lowered and I run 255's without rubbing. I've heard others say they have run 275's up front without any modification or rubbing. The only place you might have a problem is at the upper control arms up front. Measure how much clearance you have right now and see if you can add 10 mm between the edge of the tire and the upper control arm. This measurement doesn't change with suspension travel, so if it's good sitting still or in the air it will be good when moving.

I just got some 275/40/18 F1's and mine rub on the front. I had to get 5mm spacers. I am planning to move them on the back and getting some smaller tires for the front. How much is the dealer going to charge you for the tires?

I've been running 265/40-18 Michelin PS2's for about 6,000 miles with no issues at all, including one track day... (will be 2 track days on Monday) :D

I know some have run up to 275/40's up front but, I also know the GSD3's run wide. So I still wonder if anyone has or is running this size. The dealer only wants a buck eighty mounted and balanced. Thanks for the replies

If you've got your heart set on them, I would suggest this. Buy 2 of them and put them on the rear. Then pay normal price and put 245/45 18 GS-D3s up front. I personally don't like the idea of staggered tires on all 8.5" rims since the wider tire will behave differently on it's rim than the narrower one. Since the tire runs so wide, I'd just stick with 245/45 18 all around.

BTW, I do have a good idea about that tire. I swapped 2 8.5" rims with another forum member for his widened 9.25" rims with 275/40 18 GS-D3s. And they would sometimes rub in extreme circumstances. I now use those wheels in a true staggered setup with 245/45 18F PS2s and 275/40 18R PS2s on my V. The PS2s are narrower and they've never rubbed in the back.

Bigjimsho does that mean you ran the 275's up front? The other sizes are 290 each. I tempted to see if they work for that kind of money!

Nope, 245/45 18s on the front, 275/40 18s on the back.

I'd go with the idea of putting the 275s in the rear and then paying reg price for 245s in the front. I would add that you should grab the extra set of 275 rears for the future.

I had 245/45 gsd3'a up front for 20k miles, and they even rubbed a hair at full lock. I don't see the 265's working.

On a side note, Falken RT-615 275/35's fit fine up front (non lowered).

It depends a lot on the tire manufacturer.
