View Full Version : 2000 devile Northstar 4.6 running hot
hi my car was over heating i put in a new radiator, termostat, water pump, head gasket,&cap fans gos on and temperature gage shaw 1 bar over the normal.
Do a search for overheating. You should find all you need. post back if you have any questions.
the problem started with me hearing splashing under the dash when i started and i still hear that. my heat comes and goes in the car, and im still over heating slightly while driving normal and in traffic more so. i tried pleading the system and i think im doing something wrong. in changing the head gasket i stripped to head bolts and used heely coils to repair the tread. is it gonna hold? please also help me with the purging of the system and the problems listed above. thank you.
Forget purging the system. It's too late. Helicoils will not hold and your head bolts are likely pulling loose and putting exhaust gases into the cooling system again. You have to Timesert all 20 head bolt holes. http://www.timesert.com

Helicoils are worthles in a Northstar. You just wasted ALOT of time. You must Timesert all the holes as Ranger said.
Im not sure where you are located, but if you are near Ontario, Canada, there is a guy there who claims to do the whole job on 2000 and up cars for $1300.00.
