: My Amazon.com shopping experience

Hopefully this isn't against the rules...

I recently had a great experience with Amazon.com and just wanted to share.

Couple weeks ago the CTS and Lincoln LS were egged in the middle of the night. It wasn't just a bunch of dumb kids playing pranks, but absolutely delibrate. They walked up the driveway to get the front of the car too. Left the house and Windstar alone. Luckily the V and C6 are kept in the garage.

After that I was ready to skin these fvckers alive. My dad and I decided it was time to put up surveillance cameras and big fvcking flood lights. After hooking up 2 MASSIVE floodlights that over-see the driveway at night, we went looking for surveillance cameras.

Found a great system on Amazon.com at an excellent price. It included a DVR system and 4 night vision outdoor cams. Ordered it from them, and was told it ships from a third-party seller: Skybox USA. They don't ship this product to Canada; no problem, we had it shipped to a UPS Store in Buffalo. I drove over and picked it up only to find that the 4 cameras weren't in the box. Of course it was a Saturday so Skybox USA couldn't be reached. So I brought it back home anyways, having to pay tax on full value at the border.

Fast forward a couple days and after countless phone calls with Skybox USA all they could do was say they were sorry. Their listed price doesn't include the 4 cameras even though my receipt clearly shows it includes 4 cameras. First it was a "pricing error", then it was a "UPC error." All they could do was offer me a full refund. So I asked them what about my time, gas money, and tax I had to pay to bring the item back home? "We could offer you $10". Great... Thanks...

So I call Amazon.com and end up speaking with one of their supervisors. Talked to him very nicely for 2 days and this is what he offered me... Re-purchase the item from Amazon.com and select Amazon LLC as the seller instead of Skybox. (Amazon LLC's price was almost double of Skybox's). Amazon.com will re-imburse me the gas money and tax from my first trip, AND give me the difference between their listed price and the price I paid the first time. They would make Skybox give me a full refund after I sent the original item back.

I honestly couldn't believe they were willing to go that far to keep me happy. Pretty sure they took a loss but they were smart enough to look at the life-time value of me as a customer. Needless to say I'll be shopping through them a lot and am now looking for some good 2-way radios that come in handy during my cruises with the Vette guys.

And Skybox USA can kiss my ass.

I love buying stuff off of amazon. I've never had a bad experience *knocks on wood* when doing business through them. Sucks that that happened to you though but at least you got what you wanted

I have been very happy with Amazon. I bought my wife a Garmin Nuvi from them. I madet he order at about 7pm one night and it arrived at 3pm the next day!! Their prices on Navs and power tools are better than I have found anywhere by far.

The fact that I live near 2 Amazon shipping hubs and the UPS air hub is nice.

When I lived in Hawaii it was great because of the free shipping. Everyone I knew ordered most of their Christmas items off of Amazon for that very reason.

I'm waiting for the whole Amazon website of goods to be available on my Kindle. Should be just in time for Christmas shopping...

I have spent thousands on Amazon including my big screen TV. They have always been great, even on returns. So far I haven't had any problems with their partners, knock on wood.
Kudos for sticking with it and getting satisfaction.

Amazon is the best. Always has good prices and everytime my order has been messed up (not very often), either through Amazon or other seller, they've always corrected the problem. They also refund the difference if their price drops within 30 days of purchase, or something like that (I've gotten it several times).

Gotta love Amazon, I've completely abandoned ebay and now buy and sell there. Much simpler.

Amazon rips off sellers. Ebay rips off buyers.

In my case Amazon.com took a loss by paying for the third party seller's mistake.

I hate the UPS Guy. He hits on my wife & smirks everytime she gets something from Victoria Secret. I'm going to kick his ass back down the driveway one of these days. :tisk:

while we're on the subject of retailers.

Best Buy > Circuit City > Radio Shack

Also, I like getting movies from Amazon also.

Best Buy FTMFW as far as electronics retailers are concerned. Almost all of your electronics needs under one roof, all nicely priced too. Too bad their car audio installation teams are so notorious, atleast in my area.

I used to be a large-volume Amazon seller. They let customers get away with fraud and their feedback system is completely useless. The entire system is there to please the customer, even if the customer is lying. There is no recourse for legitimate sellers.

Oh yeah Best Buy FTW.

I don't shop at Radio Shack unless I need some kind of battery, switch, or other part that I can't find anywhere else.

I really liked Frys but they dont have any here. I only go into Radio Shack if I dont feel like driving to Best Buy and need something small like speaker wire since I try to stay out of Wal-Mart whenever possible.

I've never been to a Frys but I've heard a lot of good things. My uncle to me to Frys out in Concord, CA, I think. Very cool place. Except they don't have any high end equipment. But it does have anything you're looking for. I almost bought a new laptop there.
