The headliner is the Challenger SRT10 concept, which takes the best parts of a Viper and stuffs them into a Challenger chassis. Drooling yet? You should be. The car gets the Viper's 8.4-liter all-aluminum V10 that pumps out 600 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque.

Dumb move IMO. Everybody has been waiting for this car for so long so instead of showing what is possible with the stock engine and for the SRT engineers to show us some stage packages or something that people will actually be able to buy they give us an engine from a car they are getting rid of

A link from Autoblog about the same car plus the Targa Newfoundland version and pictures of the car at that event.

That green is kind of working for me...

Cool, maybe with 10 cylinders it has a shot to beat a Cobalt SS on a road course...maybe...

How do you figure that?

How do you figure that?It got beat by a large margin by a Cobalt SS at VIR. Check this month's C&D. AND, VIR is high hp friendly. The Challenger is a pig on the road course. More power would be good, but they'd need some big time chassis work as well...

I saw a video on youtube with a NewFormz (sp?) Challenger versus a Shelby GT500 Super Snake. The Snake won by a very thin margin because the enhanced Challenger didn't have enough rubber, according to the driver who tested both cars. Keep in mind, both cars had been tweaked to carry 725 ponies each.

And a stock Corvette beat up on a stock GT500 because the GT500 is an understeering pig. Keep in mind, big hp can do a lot, but both the GT500 and Challenger hate turns. And adding hp, when done by SC, is just going to add more weight up front, making understeer all the more intrusive. That's why a Super Snake will never be a track car.

So both cars have the same problem, but the Super Snake had slightly less of it?

Nice concept, but it is just that a concept vehicle, not production. I just don't get very excited over concept vehicles because they are a pipe dream.

So both cars have the same problem, but the Super Snake had slightly less of it?Something like that...

In fact, I'd bet a 505hp Z06 would wipe both of them up on a road course.
