POMPANO BEACH, Fla. A 90-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her new sports car and slammed into a pole, authorities said.
State motor vehicle records show that Maria Brunetti, of Pompano Beach, got the 2009 Dodge Challenger Friday on her birthday. A Broward Sheriff's spokesman said the car's odometer only showed 151 miles.
Detectives believe that Brunetti lost control Sunday when she accelerated instead of braking while trying to make a turn. The car hit a concrete pole and caught fire with Brunetti and her son, 47-year-old Peter Brunetti, trapped inside.
Witnesses pulled the them from the burning car, and fire-rescue took them to the hospital. The woman was pronounced dead a short time later, and her son was in serious condition.

In addition to the obvious sad news, it appears the car cannot be re-sold.

I should not have laughed at that, but I did.
Too bad she didn't make it out. Sounds like a cool old lady.

It caught fire and trapped them after hitting a pole? That doesn't speak well for the Dodge!

Is this the lady they wrote the song about years ago?

..."parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red Super-Stock Dodge"

Go granny, go granny, go granny go.

Even at 90, young at heart.

RIP Maria Brunetti.

i saw one today on my way to work. i took my eldo and i get more looks in the eldo then that thing got as i was cursing behind it, when i saw it it didn't stand out to me at all.
actually i got complemented today on my car as well... that usually happened about 2-3 times a month
you have to realize that Cadillac up here in Ontario are few and far between.
i will be lucky to see 5 eldo's in the course of the month... chances are it is the same one i saw before( not counting looking at mine)

I read this story today. Tragic, she seemed like one cool granny.
