If a '93 Allante was not made with a hardtop, what are the options to install one? Is there a kit, or must the pieces be ordered seperately? I have also read about Phase I and II hardtops. Whats the difference?

No special modifications necessary. archie29621 06-18-04, 02:02 PM Any suggestions for a source to purchase a top? Also, any idea of a fair price? wikid65 06-18-04, 02:13 PM Maybe E-bay. Price? Whatever the market will bear. Maybe check with local allante clubs. Kcryan 06-18-04, 04:25 PM ok, you have to find a 1993 (called phase 3) hard top or else modifications will be needed a Phase 2 will fit with only the addition of some weatherstripping Phase 1--made for the 87-90.5 allantes and it was Standard (easiest to find) Phase 2--Made for the 90.5-92 allantes optional but still semi easy to find Phase 3-- Same as phse 3 except the weatherstripping optional pretty hard to find Any of these will fit your car but the phase 2's will need the weatherstripping the phase1's will need a "conversion kit" to make it fit with the different latches If i were you i would look for a phase 2 or 3 phase 1's are gonna be a little tricky to get to fit. also if money isnt too big of a problem check allantestore.com they have all 3 but phase 3's cost about as much as a new car They do go up on ebay every so often Good luck KC Ryan archie29621 06-18-04, 04:43 PM Thanks for the info! Sounds like a pretty expensive upgrade. BTW, I tried the allantestore.com and it says the site is under construction, try back later... El Dobro 06-18-04, 04:48 PM Just a quick note to mention that all the weatherstrips for Allante hardtops are discontinued from GM and if you do find them, they were very expensive when GM did have them. Be prepared to improvise if you find a Phase II top. | |
