Preface: I am well aware of the level or dorkitude that one must possess to find this so awesome.
That being said, the new Rock Band 2 for XBOX 360 and PS3 just got the most wild feature ever added to a videogame- linking your forum account to the game itself.
Why is this cool, you might ask? In the game, you make a custom rocker to jam out as from thousands of parts (face, hair, shirt, pants, gloves, tattoos, glasses, etc..). It's fun either making someone that looks like you, or just someone who looks cool as hell. That part is neat, but by linking your forum account on Rockband.com to your XBOX Live account you can access a character gallery on the web site. You can arrange them in bitchin' poses in front of several different backgrounds, then download them onto your PC as wallpapers and such- but that's not the end.
In a moneymaking scheme that eclipses the coolness of anything ever seen before, once you have made a totally awesome picture of your rocker (or entire band, if you made one), you can click a link to order custom made T-Shirts, buttons, posters, keychains, bumper stickers and even 6" figurines of your custom characters- right down to the exact clothes and hair that you designed them with.

I'm not going to be running around sporting a Rock Band shirt with my dude on it or anything, but anyone who is impressed by technology and innovation has to agree with me that this is cool as hell. They're going to make a mint off all the 12-16 year olds buying this stuff. Check it out:
