You know... despite having been online since '94, I am still simply amazed every now and then by just the sheer amount information that's at our fingertips - especially in this age of broadband access. One of the things that still amuses me to no end is being able to hash up old television commercials that were once thought to be lost to posterity.

So do you have any favorite old commercials that you remember from years past... Any funny or just plain weird commercials, especially for long forgotten products?

Then share 'em with everyone!

Here's a couple that I recently found again which I got a real kick out of...

Jason Alexander for the "McDLT:"
UTSdUOC8Kac

William Shatner "beaming in" to plug the Commodore VIC-20:

The start of the Apple Kool-Aid Cult...but probably the best ad ever.

Also reminds me of my final Strategic Business Management project. My partner and I got a copy from PBS, I think -- this was before YouTube, DVDs, and even easy access to VHS copies of TV shows.

It cost a mint, but we got an A+...

Yes, I do recollect that... and if I also remember correctly, the subsequent 1-2 weeks afterwards ended up being, perhaps the nicest couple of weeks ever on the forums. Right Koz? Oh wait - You wouldn't know...

Anyway, with that hogwash aside...

I really like the commercial for this product too... It'd still be a bargain at twice the price!

The one (of several) things I've always loved about that commercial is that they showed the Allante something like 7 times, the Eldorado 6 times, the Deville (Sedan and Coupe) about 5 times, and the Fleetwood around 4 times... but only bothered to slip the poor, little Cimarron in there once... lol.

Did anyone else think that McDonalds burger was a good idea? Why did that fail?

Perhaps it was because they hired George Costanza to hock it... before anyone knew who George Costanza was? Hmmm...

Or it could be that McDicks did away with their styrofoam sandwich containers towards the late-80s/early-90s in some silly effort to appear like they actually gave two-poops about that environment thingy. Subsequently... they probably lost the ability to keep "the hot, hot and the cool, cool."

Still... with exception of the nifty container, the McDLT does essentially live on as the "Big 'N Tasty." Anyway, I vaguely remember the McDLT... although I don't think I ever had one.

However... on the rare occasion I actually go in there, I do really miss one of their long-forgotten failures - the Arch Deluxe... that was one tasty burger :yup:
