Looking for a way to dial using the touchscreen while I'm driving in my 06 STS? Seems safer than actually using the phone to dial? Anybody figured this out? Thanks!

You nees the nav overide from TOMM.
Mine works great.
However, the dialing feature seems to be more dangerous than directly using the phone.

Thanks, any idea how I can get one, or get in touch with Tomm?

You can store voice tags in the car to dial the numbers for you.
A few minutes playing with the features can save you the hassle of doing anything except using voice commands while driving.

Use OnStar.

The stored numbers are nice, and I will use some of them, but I dial to many random numbers for this to really be affective.

OnStar would work, but I have a calling plan through work, so I have to stick with what I have.

Thanks!

Do a Google search for 'STS 2005-2008 Lockpick' you will find what you need.

Sorry I can't offer more advice. GM's lawyers work pretty hard to keep stuff like this up and "not" running.

I've done plenty of searches, but the 05-06 STS is a little different than the 07-08. The lockpicks I have been able to find work only on the 07-08 STS. Any other ideas?

Thanks

Do a google search again... Using 'STS 2005-2008 Lockpick' you will find a 2005 lockpick. I searched and I found it right away so I am not sure how you are missing it.

The 05 has a OVERRIDE SWITCH what is the purpose of the override switch? cant you leave it in the unlocked mode full time and forget about it? If not then what is the reason why it has to be turned on and off??

My guess would be an "override" would interrupt the vehicle speed sensor circuit to make the nav think the car is sitting still to enable features that are disabled with vehicle motion.
Leaving the VSS gone will cause serious issues with nav accuracy. Some systems will stop working and just show the car spinning in circles.

My understanding is that this mod works by bypassing the VSS and Navigation Antenna signal in order for the navigation system to be tricked into thinking you are not moving. If you keep the system on you will not be able to use the navigation function but can use everything else. I would assume that if you wanted to make a call you would hit the override switch to unlock all the fuctions do what you want to do and then turn the system off to go back to normal.

For those w/o a Mute Button (Adaptive Cruise) or Pre-2007, I've started a list of members willing to ante $50 towards a modified Lockpick. Anyone interested, please post to 'Adapt 2008 STS Lockpick to Previous Yrs?' thread.
