I have a '97 STS and am wondering what is involved to get a radio from a '98 STS with an anti-theft system to operate in my '97. Is it a simple matter to program something with a "tech 2"?
What is involved?

if you dont have bose forget it there is no internal amped cd player which will work for your car, they are all preamped requiring an external amp to provide sound to the speakers

To repeat, this is my question:
I have a '97 STS and am wondering what is involved to get a radio from a '98 STS with an anti-theft system to operate in my '97
What happens subsequent to the radio -- pre-amp output or amplified speaker output -- is irrelevant because I tap into the pre-amp section of the integrated circuit inside the radio that is responsible for audio control, which is the same for both the '97 and '98 radios, at least the two I have.
Thus my main concern is over-riding the '98 radio theft lock in my '97.
(More info about tapping into the radio IC is available in the following link:

didnt have to get snide about it...
dealer only can do the programming
they wont know how to do it though
and ive posted how to tell them to do it many times...
enter the tech two in vehicle entry mode not vin mode
select the year make and model the radio is from and have them clear the theftlock
and it will program it
