Just got this done, looks pretty good....sometimes I impress myself! Don't know if the fuzz will notice it sitting there, there is tons going on with the onstar, rainsense wipers, etc...who knows.

The one thing about the Valentine 1 is its really for the guys that know the times they CANNOT AFFORD TO TALK TO THE LAW ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Holy cow.....should have cleaned it first!!!!!!

Here they would nail you not just for having an illegal radar detector, but for "obstruction of your view of the road". When someone asked the cops what about all that junk they have on their cars (dash lights, radar, etc.) the answer was "it only obstructs our view of the hood, not of the road." :bonkers:

In VA I know they used to not only ban radar detectors but also confiscate them if I understood correctly. That was 25 years ago.

When they first made them illegal here in Ontario the cops would have you take them out of your car, put them on the ground, and make you stomp on them.

Then you got the ticket.

Whenever I see a US-plated car that failed to notice the big "They Are Illegal" sign after you cross the border, and has a radar detector visible, I try to warn them at the next light.

There are those persons who would say that DTS owners have no need for a radar detector since they seldom exceed 45 MPH. :stirpot:

Say what they want, but when I think I'm going 45, I'm already at 65MPH, so this suggestion might be true in an '83 Brougham, but not in a new DTS. :thehand:

its all about the times when no matter what you cannot afford to get pulled over. Sometimes a visit with the law is not what you want to have....you know what I mean.

Radar is STILL illegal in Virginia, and out of state drivers pay different fines than state residents. YES, they will confiscate you radar system.

The anti-radar law was just one of the many, many reasons I left the People's Republic of Virginia.

I suppose you can't have guns there either...yup not even worth a visit if you ask me.

Sorry, but I really don't know what you mean.

If you can't get pulled over for whatever????, then those are the times I suppose to take the V1 down and drive the speed limit.

Well... THOSE PERSONS needed to have been with me this past Friday. :) :)

Ran from Winnamucca Nevada to just east of Denver Friday. Almost 900 miles in less than 11 hours. The old DTS's will SOMETIMES go over 45. :)

And I DO have a radar detector. :):)

There were several stretches on that trip where it was WELL OVER DOUBLE 45. :)
AVERAGE speed according to the DIC...82.6.

I didn't get very good fuel mileage on that trip.

I need to call Cadillac and complain that it is not getting the EPA mileage that is on the window sticker. :)
