Seems like a pretty minor repair more in the vein of a safety campaign. Full story here:

wonder when we will get the notice in the mail. The article I saw in the local newspaper said that the short can start a fire. And I park mine in an attached garage. That was certaily encouraging, although I never use my washer fluid heater for that reason. I wonder what the failure mode actually is, like, only when you are using it? I hope so.
And I just called my dealer. Even if your vehicle is included in the recall models listed, your particular VIN may not be included yet, meaning GM has some administrative stuff to do in order to get all the included vehicles "into the recall system" before you can even have the work done under the recall. My dealer's experience was simply that some cutomers had washer heaters that stopped working. No known smoke or fires.

When I first read this I wondered if that was how TexasJim lost his first '06 DTS.... He did say in a garage fire but not what caused it....
