Hot Rod Caddy

purchased a Certified 06, STS, Sport Package, with 11K miles on the odometer and after getting home discovered that the interior drum on each of the 9 spoke wheels is showing corrosion that looks like rust. It does not wash away. Went to dealer and was told "this is normal and is due to brake dust attacking the wheels, don't worry" I find this hard to belive. Your comments are welcome.

well neglected wheels attacked by brake dust will indeed do that.

It's normal - it's just eating the chrome away. Brake dust is extremely corrosive - and our cars spew brake dust like smog. Only at 18k miles and I have to replace my front pads already. Suck.
Suggestions? I'm not smart enough, and my driveway is too broken up to change my brake pads. $199 from dealer is too rich for my blood.
