Does anyone have the automatic (headlamp) dimmer feature on their 1986-92 FWB? I've never seen it on one & can't think why GM engineers would have designed it out of the Brougham. It was available as an option from 1959 at least -- phasing it out would make no sense at all :hmm::eek:

I had it on my 87 Fleetwood FWD. Was not very effective though. On sharper corners it would not pick up oncoming cars until late. Not sure if they ever improved upon that flaw or not. Dont believe it was ever on the broughams.

It was on the Broughams up until 1986.

I sold a 1984 Town Car a few months ago. Cartier edidtion, loaded up. It had a GM auto dimmer behind the grille. The amber lense and housing was stamped GM with GM numbers. Wired to a ford harness. Was wired up like it was factory, and also mounted and worked like factory.

I think Ford maby bought them from GM and installed. Later lincolns had units behind the rear view mirrors.
