View Full Version : Stolen Front bumper cover Some lowlife stole my bumper off my 89. So I have a few questions to ask please.
1. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE MY BUMPER IS?
( LOL sorry, But I had to ask)
2. Can you still get a new one from GM and if so how much?
( I only ask because a Detective will not work the case
unless it has felony value)
3. Where can I get a used bumper cover?
4. Does anyone want to buy my 2 Allantes? Stealth 08-20-08, 12:55 PM Some lowlife stole my bumper off my 89. So I have a few questions to ask please.

sorry to hear that .. I have seen stolen grills and tail lights, but the bumper is a 1st.
only the cover? they left the aluminum under frame?
give us details, where was it stolen, what color?
was it the original bumper? many Allantes have the VIN on the inside of the body parts.
keep checking on ebay and craigslist to see if someone tries to sell it.
check your messages ...
. Alexandria, La
cover only
and I guess it was OEM.
It won't let me PM. I typed a message and it said I don't have nuff post count or something. blue_eldo 08-22-08, 12:48 AM Bumper covers are easy to find used. Check with Allantesource for prices. I replaced mine a few years back for about $250 then another $200 to paint it. Stealth 08-23-08, 11:20 AM Alexandria, La

My contact info is in my signature and MY profile .. shoot me the info on the two Allantes ?
At any case, there are bumper covers out there that are not perfect for little money.
Allantesource does sell covers, ALL of them REFURBISHED.
BTW, I have lost so many bumper covers (parking lot encounters) that I have also resorted to the FSM repair procedures to refurbish them.
Since my cars are BLACK, I keep a can of plastic primer paint ($7) and gallon of Super Jet BLACK Acrylic Lacquer ($85) to keep them looking decent.
I also sprayed the soft top covers with the Super Jet Black, to match the car, and it looks good.
One of the rear bumper now got scraped, no breakage, but a coat of paint is needed. Allantesource 08-31-08, 12:12 AM A brand new front bumper cover costs $1800 plus shipping. seller has a similar name, wrong State, wrong phone # .. different guy.
two years ago, someone got hold of the mold and made around 100 fiberglass units, probably for the insurance biz. i dont know of anyone that has bought one knowing it was fiberglass and I'm not sure most folks with a damaged car would care about the material.
originals were not fiberglass.
. Southern-Hospitality 09-20-08, 09:30 PM wouldn't fiberglass be an upgrade from the flimsy plastic? Stealth 09-21-08, 02:34 AM wouldn't fiberglass be an upgrade from the flimsy plastic?
that "flimsy plastic", XELOY I believe, bends and takes abuse much better than brittle fiberglass.
also they meet Fed crash Standards, fiberglass does not.
. Southern-Hospitality 09-21-08, 04:50 AM Point proven haha Well, I don't need a cover anymore because Hurricain Gustav came and delivered its wrath and the car took a few inches of water in the floorboards so its gone to the wrecking yard. It's time to pull off our bumper skins and replace it with thick piece of boxed in steel channel. I did see someone use a bumper skin from another make on their Allante. It seemed to fit pretty well but it did change the look. Stealth 09-23-08, 08:41 PM It's time to pull off our bumper skins and replace it with thick piece of boxed in steel channel. they can be repaired.
to my surprise, about a year ago i saw the procedure in the FSM itself and works pretty well. weekend job.
if you deliver the bumper to a body shop, they will paint it for about $100.
take off all the trim before the paint.
