I am comparing the 87-89 brougham to the 90-92 brougham, besides the obvious physical differences, are there any improvements or overall superior mechanical or convenience differences?. I am asking because I would really like to get a 90-92 brougham, but there is a super clean 87 for sale in my area.

The 90-92 had either the Chevy 350 or 305, optional or standard, no more 307's, except as the standard motor in the '90s, but I think there were more ordered with the 350. That's enough of a difference to push me into a 1990-92. There were vast improvements in power, reliability, driveability, modifiability and the fuel economy didn't suffer much.

Thanks for reply, does the 90-92 series run also seem to improve up to 92, actually something I learned doing my own research is that the 90 is a 307. tnx again

1990 is the same as 1989 except for how it looks and that you could get the 5.7L engine. 1991 and 1992 are different. Theres some old posts that say everything.

Yeah, by '92 the engines had more horses and I think the 5.7 engine got 1 or 2 extra mpg's. And the towing capacity went up too (I think).

Here's a site that will tell you every detail you could ever possibly want to know, and for every year with the differences:

That happened in 1991 not 1992.

1990 is also the first year for ABS too, I believe, and it was standard.

1990 was the first year for the single piece headlights, digital dash and they revised the tail lights in '90 also.

Let's not forget the exterior can be swapped for al pre '90 RWD models .I still prefer '80-89 over '90-92s

That's a good site but the problem is, it's FILLED with errors. It's bad for people like me who get hung up on certain pieces of data only to find out it was never true. For example, it shows a Bose system as being an option on that 90 Fleetwood. Never happened, FWD only.

Engine specs are also frequently littered with typos - says 400lb-ft for the 350. They wish.

Same for me! I used to use AVG, and never had an issue with that site. I'm on Avast now, and it doesn't like it...

I don't much care for the "Euro" style headlights on the 90s broughams, it makes the front of the car seem smaller, and I think the high trim and colored molding on the bumpers throws off the "classic" big sedan look that Cadillac had done a good job keeping throughout the 80s, although it was the 90s, and there's nothing wrong with change.

The guy I bought my 89 Brougham from was only selling it because he had replaced it with a 92 with more horsepower. He said he liked it more than the older one, but I think that's just because he liked the greater power. If we're going for style points, the 80-89 Broughams have got it in spades.

I agree, for the classic big cadillac style, it ended with the 89's.

Finally realize why I dislike the Euro front clip. It really does make the front end seem smaller.
