Except that car looks like ass in white. The Tony Show 08-15-08, 11:37 PM Suh-weet! Except that car looks like ass. Fixed. hardrockcamaro@mac.c 08-16-08, 06:25 AM So it roughly matches the Z06, bone stock? And costs basically the same (5k more?). Can't deny it has impressive performance but it wouldn't be my first choice at $75,000 (?) as there are a lot of nice cars for that price. Obviously for some it is their first choice and that's fine. Personally I preferred the look of the old GTR. The Tony Show 08-16-08, 10:20 AM I read this on the Edmunds.com blog today and couldn't agree more: The car is fast. However, the exhaust note is as stirring as a $60 Hoover form Wal-Mart and the car is ugly as sin. The car seems to be a jack rabbit who is capable of mind boggling launches but, as they say, slow and steady wins the race. The ridiculously short gearing seems to be a blessing in intial acceleration (0-100) but a curse when speeds rise to true supercar velocities. If I had a choice between this car and the similarly priced Z06, I'd take the Vette. More power, much better soundtrack, better looks, virtually identical 0-60 times, better fuel economy (on 91 octane), and longer legs at extra legal speeds. I certainly wouldn't knock anyone who'd choose the GT-R, just ain't my cup of tea. I~LUV~Caddys8792 08-16-08, 10:45 AM Between the Z06 and GT-R, I see Corvettes pretty much daily in the summer time, including Z06's, so for that reason, among others, I'd spend my $75,000 on a GT-R. But honestly, I wouldn't buy either and just spend that $75k on an '09 V and spend the rest on modifications. CadillacSTS2003 08-16-08, 10:53 AM you can make a turd fast but at the end of the day your still driving a turd... I~LUV~Caddys8792 08-16-08, 11:27 AM Speaking of the V, I suppose it won't be far behind the 11.7 1/4 mile posted by the GT-R....is it speculated that the '09 will break into the 11's, or will it be a low 12 second car? The Tony Show 08-16-08, 12:14 PM 12.0 will be the Manufacturer's time since it's repeatable, but several engineers have broken into the 11s during testing. I~LUV~Caddys8792 08-16-08, 12:31 PM Holy shit, that's a full second and a half quicker than the 1st gen V. C&C 08-16-08, 03:00 PM you can make a turd fast but at the end of the day your still driving a turd... Couldn't have said it better myself. Make mine red, make mine Corvette. dirt_cheap_fleetwood 08-16-08, 03:10 PM awesome car, except for the void your warranty button ive been hearing about.... What did I miss? What button would that be? :hmm: | |
