I have a 2004 SRX with Bose radio and Cd player. We have used the Cd player about 10 times and now when you try to load a Cd it displays a message "CD mech error" I'm thinking it's a small problem but the dealer wants to replace the whole radio system for $750.00 Anyone konw what the problem might be and how I can get the cover off opf the CD player?

Can we assume you are out of 50,000 mile warranty? The '04 had radio/CD player problems and many were replaced.
Has the dealer run the VIN to see what warranty work has been done on the vehicle?I forgot the 4 year or 50,000 mile thing.

The car is out of warranty 4 yr, 50000 miles. The car only has 39000 miles but is past the 4 yr mark. We are the original owners.
