I'm off in about 2 hours to have refractive eye surgery. I'm sure others here have had it done. No matter how "old hat" things become to me as an anesthesia provider I am always somewhat anxious when I have to be on "the other side" of the deal. There some additional component of anxiety when I think about someone zapping my eyes with a laser. Good thing they provide a prescription for valium. I'll take one of those puppies on an empty stomach and probably be :cloud9: afterwards. I have NEVER liked eye surgery, and that includes doing the anesthesia for them.

At any rate if I seem absent for a couple days it will be because I'm resting my eyes and taking it easy. Wish me luck.

... No matter how "old hat" things become to me as an anesthesia provider ...

Does this mean we can refer to you as our resident "Gas passer"?

I'm with you when it comes to anything getting near my eyes. I can get stressed when the barber comes close with scissors. Best of luck with your procedure.

And yes C5, nobody passes gas like yours truly.

Typing on an iPhone after 20mg of Valium is fun! Wheeeeee!

I had RK surgery done back in the 90's. There's nothing like regaining your sight...except maybe your libido

As a side note, you won't find an ophthalmologist that depends on his eyesight willing to have it done to themselves. The risk of a bad result is about ten times higher than cataract surgery.

Well my first post op day I find I have 20/20 vision. My eyes are very sensitive to light and feel like someone sprinkled sand into them. It's uncomfortable but not what I consider painful. I have lots of good pain meds, valium, and sleeping pills to help me relax. So :alchi: I'm feeling good.

The doc says my vision will be less blurry after several days, and should continue to improve out to 2 months. Sounds good to me! At least I'm not completely blind today! :cool2:

Thanks for the well wishes you guys.

Wow, I am a day late, but certainly glad to hear it went well.

Rest up, be sure to follow the doctor's instructions.
Sounds like you are well on your way. Eyes heal quickly as you all know so you'll be back up to snuff in no time.
