hello i have a 94 FWB and it recently started idleing rough when in park. also the car started dieing usually when I would turn it on and put it in reverse to back out my drive way. I would restart the car and it would run fine. every few days this would happen. now it's starting to die in park and while idleing at red lights and take about 2 tries before it would ur back on. it also hesitate for a second or 2 when driving at first, the check engine light will come on, then the light will turn off shortly. I check the codes and nothing pops up.
any idea of what is causing this? what should I check first.
thanx in advance

EGR, IAC, ignition, intermittent electrical....could be anything.

I'd start by removing the intake boot and clean the throttle body and IAC passage with carb cleaner.

Other easy stuff to check would be the air filter, and visually check for any vacuum leaks.

Is it time for some routine maintenance? When was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?

I agree - check all vacuum connections. There are a few elbows and rubber lines on the LT1 that are notorious for drying out and cracking. The explanation there is any air that enters the engine that is NOT metered by the MAF will cause it to run lean (worst at idle) and could easily explain your symptoms.

it should be time for a regular tune-up, the car has 156k on it. any chance that the problem is the fuel pump? or does a fuel pump just die completey? I changed the MAF and air filter about a month ago. I'm going to buy a fuel filter, plugs and wires tomorrow and see what that does. but i'll check all the hoses before I spend the money. Are all the hoses and vaccum lines that I need to check in plain site?

Once you remove "home plate" everything is pretty much visible.

I would go through and do tune-up items if the car is due. I think fuel pumps can get weak. Clogged fuel filters are also a reality. Have fun doing the wires. I'd do the plugs first and check progress. Anything to get out of doing the wires is a good thing.
