Hi all have a 77 caddy 425 eng tranny in morning when shift to drive takes about 3 seconds then it will engage to drive any idea's? thanks

Check the level, top it up, and hopefully you'll get the trans to engage right away... carnut 08-14-08, 04:35 PM If full, then either the linkage has worn out bushings delaying movement of the shift linkage or the trans filter is plugged up restricting fluid flow. Unless you know for a fact that the trans fluid and filter have been replaced in the last 30,000 miles do that as well.
