In response to public inquiries as to what the troopers are doing driving luxury vehicles, it transpires that the troopers are the recipients of some felony DUI forfeitures. In Alaska the third DUI in a ten year period results in forfeiture of your vehicle and very serious jail time of a year or more. The Escalade in our area was fully paid for by the previous owner so the troopers thought it would make a good platform for trooper recruitment and filed a request with the court for it.

Ah, Im sure the heated seats will be worth it. Throw some extra lights, cold weather equipment, and some winter tires and pull people over in style.

The state troopers have some pretty nice airplanes seized from bootleggers smuggling liquor into dry villages and game law violators.
