I need to replace my side moldings on my coupe, but I have no idea what the OE ones are supposed to look like. The ones on my car have a chrome trim with a white (faded to cream/yellow) center. They are a little wavy, too.
I plan on pulling them off, cleaning the adhesive with the 3M 'eraser", and replacing.
Pics and advice most appreciated!
Found the site for a Canadian supplier: http://www.trim-gard.com/,. now I just need to figure out what to use...

80-83 had what you are describing on yours, color in the center and chrome at the edges. They were stick on plastic/vinyl moldings. 84-85 had a stick on molding also, but the profile was rectangular and there was no chrome edges. Sorry don't have any pics.

Great! Thanks for the info. I thought mine were aftermarket because they are a little wavy. The car has original paint, though. I'll see what I can match up...

Yep, I was doing a search and found your thread when you first bought the car. Your molding is the exact same as mine. Maybe I'll peel off the peeling coating on the chrome, and shoot the center part white again. I haven't found anything online that matches the profile (sort of square, not rounded).
Let me know if anyone knows where to get this stuff...

I know we have some NOS stuff at the body shop. I remeber seeing white with a chrome outer edge. Ill let you know what i can find.
We have a whole stock room for mouldings, pin stripes, chrome rockers, factory pin stripes, door edge gurads, trim clips ect ect. Alot of older stuff that my boss has kept. He has a soft spot for 80's caddys.
What makes you want to put it back on when you have it off? I know its not going back on mine. Though ill have the 90;s side mouldings, so it would be to cluttered anyways.
This 84? i had had a solid white on it. I do like the older 81 style better. But my black 85 FWBC parts car has the same solid design, but black.
