View Full Version : Is there really a beautiful cat on the market today? I see alot of cars that look OK, but honestly I can't say I've seen an exceptionally good looking car for at last 5 years. One's appraisal of automotive good looks is certainly very subjective ....... but today's crop really to seem to employ "mimic and monotony" as their design theme.
Maybe we should be thankful for no more BMW-like flights into Bangle attempts at something different that turned out to be different but truly ugly. And sure enough the designers couldn't restrain themselves and copied Mr Bangle's delusions of automotive beauty. I personally like the "hockey stick" reverse curve of the rear quater window ......... but not on every car of every price class that I see. The so-called "Coupe' roofline gets monotonous (not to mention uncomfortable for rear seat passengers. However, I must say automotive design is not unique in suffering from this malaise. Residential and commercial architecture seems to be experiencing its' own dearth of beauty and taste. Perhaps the first decade of the new millenium will be known as a new period of design desolation. IMO the CLS63 is the best looking car on the road. The 6 series is the only Bimmer that looks worth a damn and I LOVE the Verts and the M6. I like the G8 GXP and the Buick Lucerne. I also like the Acadia/Outlooks a lot but HATE the beak on the Enclave. The Ford FLex looks great for what it is especially since it came from Ford design studios which have been horrible for years. The CTS coupe will be amazing IF they fix the trunk line.
Of course the big body Jags are always spectacular as are the C6 Vettes. http://www.textually.org/picturephoning/archives/archives/images/set2/i-can-has-cheezburger.jpg I love that new BMW concept....CS I think???? urbanski 08-08-08, 09:19 PM :woot: @ :jesda: CadillacSTS2003 08-08-08, 09:23 PM yea theres one in Texas

What the hell was Cadillac thinking?
One of the prettiest cars on the road IMO is the new Aston Martin DB9. Never has a car looked so beautiful and sexy at the same time. I saw one in Gunmetal Grey and nearly died. The new Merc CL550 is pretty bad ass too.
I like all of the current Cadillac's, but still prefer the '92-'03 Seville STS. Few luxury sedans have ever been so sleek and elegant. I think the new 3 series coupe is dashingly good looking.

OMG those are FANTASTIC! First time I saw one I did a double take to see what it was. I am honestly surprised there are so few of them on the road because they do look amazing. I also have to agree with Maui that the large Jags (like the XJ) are good looking because they have a really cool trunk line. The trunk just looks so small but it is actually quite spacious.

Other good looking cars today IMO:
New Chevy Malibu
New Honda Civic(2 door or 4 door)
BMW 3 series and M3 coupe(any year, even the 80's ones), 6 series also
Buick Enclave
S-class, CLS, E-class, CL and SL Benzes
Porsche Cayman
Zo6 Vette
Pontiac G8
Infiniti G35 Coupe
Mazda 3
Jeep Wrangler 4 door The XF isnt a style I'm in love with, but somehow I feel it -deserves- to be loved. Its like a fairly cute girl you don't quite understand, but you know there's something to like if you get to know her. tman2093 08-09-08, 03:57 AM That XF is a HUGE new direction for Jaguar. Thumbs up! I~LUV~Caddys8792 08-09-08, 10:29 AM Most beautifiul cars on the road today...
Any Aston Martin
Mercedes CL Class
Mercedes CLS Class
Bentley Continental
Any Alfa Romeo coupe
Infiniti G37 Coupe
CTS Im not all that impressed withthe XF exterior, its the INTERIOR I drool over.
The G37 coupe and the XF50 are also high on my list. Cant believe I forgot the G37 since its the car I was in a toss up with when I bought the V but the dealer wouldnt sell the loaded out black demo they had so he didnt sell me a car. concorso 08-09-08, 05:35 PM Not any Aston Martin. The Conv. generally lose some of their muscular look. Check out the DB9 Volante, not nearly as good looking as the Coupe.
Most Aston Martin's look great. The jag's with thier chrome vents are horrible tho.
C6 has great lines, but its not finished properly, certain lines from the side dont add up.
Ferrari 599 is purty.
3 series looks goofy and disproportionate from certain angles.
Mustang looks good.
Honestly, Zagato makes the best looking cars. Aston Martin based Zagato's to be exact. 1. Jaguar XK-R Roadster
2. The Fish that got away, 2006 Infiniti Q-Car
3. Corvette Convertible
4. Maybach

The Bentley Continental GT Coupe is a knockout. The CLS500 is a great looking Mercedes, and the Audi A8 is gorgeous too. And even though it hasn't been a rousing success, the Caddy XLR just about kills me every time I see one. Cadillacboy 08-10-08, 01:59 PM Jaguar XF |
