: DTS Rims - Fit 2006 STS?

I am trying to find a suitable set of rims for winter tires (can't start thinking about it too soon)! Will 17" rims from a newer DTS fit on my STS (has 1SF package with 18" rims, but I think the 17" rims will fit)? I have tried searching but did not find anything in this forum.

Thanks in advance.

Check the bolt pattern and offset for DTS wheels. If they match STS, then it should work.

They should work as long as they clear the brakes.

Not sure, but I went through the same thing. I got 4 used 18" 9 spoke rims off E-Bay (Not all at one time or same seller)for my STS and had new Blizzak m-22's mounted..Front 235/55, rear 255/45. You can go with 255/45 on all 4 corners.

Proceed with caution. FWD cars often have different offsets than RWD.

As for 17" v. 18", if the STS was available with both sizes in 2006, you should be able to use a 17" wheel with a taller sidewall tire. This is a very good idea for a winter tire to cushion the ride and protect the rims.

I had an 04 CTS with 17" wheels. Since 16" was stock, I bought some 16" Enkei wheels for my winter tires. However, the Enkeis were intended for FWD cars and the offset was off, making the wheels stick out a bit.

That's actually the reverse of the typical. The CTS has more negative offset than the FWD models. "Typical" RWD cars were closer to 0, not further than the FWD cars. I have the '04? CTS polished 17s on my oldsmobile and they stick further in than the stock wheels did. However, if the wheels are narrower, it should be ok.
