I have a 2007 DTS. The radio does not turn off when I turn off the ignition and open the driver side door. I have to manually press the power button on the radio to get it to turn off. Once or twice it went off after I had used the wipers but it isn't consistent. Also turned off once or twice after I used the all door lock/unlock bar on the arm rest. Again, not consistent. Also tried opening the passenger side door and that doesn't work either.

Sounds like an electrical gremlin.
I can't think of anything easy to check that would cause the radio to act like that.

I think I would let the dealer sort that one out.

I have had it to the dealer at least twice with no luck. They have reinstalled the radio software but it hasn't accomplished anything. I now have to manually turn off my radio every time I turn off the ignition. I know it is supposed to turn off when the driver side door is opened but it doesn't go off and neither does the clock.

Larry,

Just had a thought.

See if your drivers side window will work after opening the door.
Also check to see if your sunroof opens and closes after opening the door.

It could be a malfunction in the Retained Accessory Power module.

Hi Superjim. Thanks for your suggestion. I do not have a sunroof but I tried the driver side window after turning off the ignition and opening the door and it worked fine. The windshield wipers did NOT work. I am taking the car in Thursday for an extended stay while the dealer does some in-depth checking on the electrical system. Hopefully, the info on the window working and the wipers not working may give them a clue as what area to concentrate on. I will post results if they are successful in fixing the problem.

That should help them narrow it down.
Of course, the window should NOT work after you open the door.
From what I understand, the radio head unit does all kinds of functions not related to the radio at all. It is also tied in to the Retained Accessory Power module.

Then again... it may be the door switch itself. If it isn't working right...it won't send a sognal to the Retained Accessory Power module to turn off.

Hello all. Just to wrap up this string I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they replaced the module in the armrest in the door that contains the controls for the windows and the locks and rear view mirrors placement, etc. Once that was replaced and programmed the problem has been taken care of. It may well be the Retained Accessory Power module that has been referred to in previous entries in this area. Thanks to all who replied.

Larry,

Glad you got it fixed.
That module is the DDM, or Drivers Door Module. It does a lot of things.
It is also tied in to the Retained Accessory Power module.
Evidently it wasn't sending the proper signals to the other modules.
