hey.. just wondering if anyone can tell me what the black rubber that surrounds the chrome hood trim is there for.. reason i ask is that I ordered a replacement chrome trim piece and it came with the black rubber around it.. i had the piece painted and wanted to see if i really need the black rubber around it or if i could just leave it off.. not sure if it was just there because it was a space filler or something.. thanks

I think its there to keep it the piece as tight as possible to the hood. Seems like some sort of space filler. I think its purpose is to protect from getting water in behind the trim so the hood doesnt start rusting? Just my theory! :cool2:
