I was looking some time ago for pics of painted/modded engine covers and didn't find many. I thought I would share some pics of mine incase someone was looking for them.

I am kinda wierd about doing easy stuff to the car that doesn't require downtime or money. Just setting myself apart from the rest of the V's out there. :bigroll: I never liked the color choice Cadi had for the engine cover and I didn't want to do the Corvette clone mod (not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my thing) on mine. Also didn't want to pay the cheese for the carbon fiber cover from the factory.

I know this isn't for everyone, but for those of you who like something just a little different... here is what I did. I still need to sand/buff some orange peel off the front of the cover and the center crest and wreath is undergoing a different treatment now but I was pretty pleased with the results.

I like it  I thought about doing something similar, I want to do all my emblems in Black Chrome as well, that Cadi Crest would look mean in Black Chrome on the Black Engine Cover.

Kinda what I was thinking! Actually I am going to do something airbrushed but that is a !GREAT! idea.

I used a gray sandable primer, high temp base coat and a good enamel clear coat. You know, rattle can stuff! :duck:

I took time to wet sand each layer and prep each coat. Once I had the final coat of clear on I wet sanded, compounded and polished.

I love the black cover. I think it looks 100 times better than the factory one. FYI, here is a pic of mine. It's a little extreme, but I like it.

That looks great! I have actually talked to an airbrush artist locally that does a great job on motorcycle helmets and hogs. I am thinking of doing a ghost image of Vader on mine. This is a (very poor) photoshop of what I am thinking about:

So far so good. I used engine paint for the base but I don't know that I needed to.

I know, right? I think I will get this done for sure. I have never been into that kind of thing (kinda showy :helpless: ) but it definately goes with the "DRKS1DE" theme! :sneaky:
