I hear new northstars have varible cam timing

so did they also get a bump in compression ratio ? when toyota did it with the 4cyl they were able to run a static of 11.5 to 1 but with the variable cam timing they were able to vary the comprsesion ratio(mean effective?) with what the computer wanted. Aloowing that high ratio to run on pump gas .

Also how does it work ? is oil pressure used to change the timing ?

bascily has the compression ratio changed with the XLR northstar VS a 2000 deville northstar ?
