I am fed up waiting for Cadillac to put Bluetooth in the DTS model. the STS has had it for about three years now. It is a great safety feature & will soon be legislated all over the place. I have owned about 9 new Cadillacs and have enjoyed them. But this is not a technology issue & I feel we are being kept away from this wonderful feature for political reasons. I'm angry about this & think my next car will be a Lexus LS 460. A salesman in a California Cadillac dealership told me he had lost several deals over this issue . . . !

My other beef with the 2006 DTS is . . . you cannot read the beautiful clock at night . . . you have to turn the dash lights down so the navigation doesn't blind you & then I defy you to read the clock . . . night is when I need to read it . . . I can see my wristwatch during the daylight . . . beautiful looking clock, but what good is it if you can't read it . . . stupid, stupid, stupid . . .

One more thing . . . why does the right mirror take 6 or 7 seconds to turn down for parking . . . by the time I could have used it, I am finished backing up . . . My 2000 DTS did it instantly . . . we're losing ground here . . . !

On the other side of the coin:

I think GM should put some kind of blanking device in all their cars preventing cell phones/bluetooth/blackberry's etc. from working once the ignition is ON. Studies have shown hand-less cell phone use is just as distracting as hand held phone use (the only advantage of the hand-less is jerks can now use their turn signal before cutting you off while pre-occupied with their phone call).

Can't think of when I've ever referred to my car clock (besides my '08 has a digital clock on the radio dial -- don't have the nav system). If I have an important meeting, I always leave enough time not to have to worry....

As for the mirror, I don't mind the delay. I find when the mirrors are pointed down, I can't see as far back...like how far out of alignment I am with the garage door opening...so the ability to first see fully back and then down is an advantage...for me anyway.... (My 300C had the same delay so maybe it's now the common thing.....).

The use of a hand-held cell phone in a Cadillac (Bluetooth or otherwise) means that you are not using the built in OnStar cell phone. This probably means that you don't have an OnStar subscription or have not purchased cell phone minutes it you do. Either way it represents money that GM is not getting from you. This particular issue might explain, to some extent, the absence of Bluetooth in the DTS.

TulsaVic suggests that all cell phone use be blocked (I assume he also includes the hands-free OnStar cell phone) while driving on the grounds that any cell phone use is distracting. I, personnally, have not seen any studies or other indication that this is true, and it raises the question of what do you do when a passenger wants to use their cell phone. Also, GM and other manufacturers who derive substantial income from built-in hands-free cell phones won't like this suggestion at all. Don't hold your breath. I do not answer or make calls on my hand-held cell phone when driving. I do use the OnStar hands-free cell phone.
