I ordered a Covercraft hardtop cover (IC9008GK) from AutoAnything and it does not wrap around the side windows of the hardtop. All the part numbers on the cover, box, packing list, and receipt match, but it's just not wide enough to wrap around the sides. Does anyone else have this cover and does it fit?

Covercraft thinks the cover is on backwards from these pics. I'll try to swap it, but it is on per the instructions.

that looks weird ...
do they want you to install it from the bottom up?

Yep. I'll have my son give me a hand with it sometime this weekend.

Despite the instructions and the printed "Front" on the cover, Covercraft's suggestion was correct. My son also reminded me that he thought it went that way, too. I need to stretch the one side a bit, but it appears to fit, uh, backwards.

BTW, AutoAnything did a great job communicating back and forth with Covercraft.

ok .. where is the opening? bottom end?

w/o being to touch it, it looks more difficult than it should be.

The cover looks like an envelope with velcro sides and a long flap. The instructions (and the printing on the cover) tells you to insert the front of the hardtop in the envelope. However, the correct way, at least for the Allante hardtop cover, is to insert the lower edge of the rear window into the envelope and wrap the envelope flap over the top and around the front edge.

We flipped the top upside down on the grass, rocking if forward and back to get the cover on. I imagine two people could install it while removing the top from the car, but flipping the top over probably makes it easier.

I wonder why they designed it that way. :cookoo:

Seems to me that the easy and convenient way to do this would be to place the hard top on the stand and then slip the cover over it. Maybe the same designers that worked on the GM soft top are now working at Covercraft. :stirpot:

On the other hand, it makes a nice cozy hotel for the winter rodents ...

now you gotta paint the wall and install a couple of shelves for all the Allante spare parts, manuals, and maintenance supplies.

A Cadillac logo would go nicely on the wall.

thanks for posting all the work.

Good thought, but I'd need to move and build a much bigger garage - something in the 3,000 - 4,000 sq. ft. range plus a smaller attached house.
