Hail Columbia! nickc50310 06-26-08, 12:53 PM Hell yeah!!! Rolex 06-26-08, 12:59 PM This is truly a great victory for gun owners. I suspect you will see a sharp downward trend in crime in DC. The NRA is now expected to file suit against the city of Chicago for its gun ban. I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-26-08, 01:07 PM Yay for us! Ranger 06-26-08, 01:11 PM It's about time. The modern day reason is that of home invaders, but it was actually written into the Constitution as a means of protection against the Government should the need arise for armed revolt (as it did with the Revolutionary War). A Government that doesn't allow its citizens to arm themselves is one to fear. nickc50310 06-26-08, 02:07 PM One of our most basic rights is to bear arms and defend ourselves. Disarm the citizens. dkozloski 06-26-08, 02:14 PM Australians were disarmed including long guns and the new vocation of choice is home invasion. The crime rate skyrocketed. submariner409 06-26-08, 02:28 PM Well, I'll be damned. Ol' Sarah Brady, Susan Sarandon and Diane Feinstein probably are having absolute screaming fits right now. firsttimecaddy, Go down to "Post your weapons" and find my post of revolver pics from a couple days ago and then go back through all the stuff our members own and shoot. An unfavorable Supreme Court ruling would have turned all that history and ownership into so much crushed pot metal if the anti-gun freaks had their way. Look at dkoz' post on what happened to Australia and Great (?) Britain after the nationwide gun confiscations. A few selfish special interest liberals are constantly trying to change the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to suit their own socialist goals. It allows a home owner to make a choice as to whether they wish to have a handgun for protection in their home and the "state" not being able to pass a law preventing them from such. So much more so meaningful for areas like D.C. that deal with high crime rates. It was some guy reminding everyone that "you can have one in your house, but you can't have it outside your house". Meaning... if you get caught carrying one you are still busted. We've already got that covered here in Alaska. If it's legal for you to own a handgun you can carry it concealed and you don't need a permit. Rolex 06-26-08, 08:32 PM Making guns illegal doesn't keep criminals from getting them. I say gun control is like imposing a speed limit, and criminals that use a firearm are like speeders. Say, for example, the speed limit is 55 mph. You and I obey the limit and operate inside the law, while criminals speed through town at 100 mph. Instead of catching the criminals, they just impose a new speed limit of 35 mph. The new level of control only effects the law abiding citizen, while criminals continue to speed through town at 100 mph. :thepan: Spyder 06-26-08, 09:07 PM So...who went out and bought a new gun to celebrate? Oh.....^ Biden. Read the news blogs on the sudden U-turn BamBam has taken on gun control in the last 12 hours. Sickening. (Change: It's all you'll have left in your pocket when he gets finished with you........) 93DevilleUSMC 06-26-08, 10:54 PM I bought my gun in case things went the other way, but fortunately, they didn't. The Supreme Court knew fully and well that tying gun ownership to the militia clause would have only increased the number of militias. I need to go to the range tomorrow to celebrate! Ranger 06-26-08, 10:57 PM Well as suspected, Hizzonor Mayor Daley is spitting mad. :histeric: and I am relishing it. You should hear the crap that man is spewing. If it weren't so ridiculous it would actually be funny. 93DevilleUSMC 06-26-08, 11:05 PM What's he saying? Links? Quotes? Rolex 06-26-08, 11:35 PM Look for the DC politicians to save face with some chest-thumping new gun laws to spit in the face of SCOTUS. I'd say they'll come up with something stupid like, "You can own handguns in DC, but only revolvers." Their lawyers said when all this started they would find a way to win no matter what. :bomb: MauiV 06-26-08, 11:40 PM Daley claims the decision isnt applicable to Chicago and yes, he really is an idiot... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-supreme-court-gun-ban,0,1646975.story Ranger 06-26-08, 11:45 PM In Chicago, Mayor Richard Daley, a staunch supporter of gun control, called the decision "frightening" and said he was bracing for a fight with the gun lobby, which has long criticized the city's ban on the sale and registration of handguns for everyone but police officers and a handful of others. Enacted in 1982, the law was created in response to the murders of two police officers and the assassination attempt on former president Ronald Reagan. "Does this lead to everyone having a gun in our society?" he said at a news conference. "If they think that's the answer, then they're greatly mistaken. Then, why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West? You have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle in the streets. "They're changing the rules," Daley said of the Supreme Court. "Why should we as a city not be able to protect ourselves from those who want guns in our society?" My computer is slow as hell tonight so I can't get the rest of them. He said something to the effect "that you can't bring a gun to school, the court or the white house, so why should we have them in our streets". Obviously he has not read the ruling. Rolex 06-27-08, 12:48 AM "Does this lead to everyone having a gun in our society?" he said at a news conference. "If they think that's the answer, then they're greatly mistaken. Then, why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West? You have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle in the streets. This is the same half assed argument the anti-gun crowd was spewing 14-15 years ago when states were considering concealed cary permits. We know now that the opposite is true. States with concealed carry have lower violent crime rates than those without. It seems that criminals dislike their victims being armed. Why do people believe that gun owner's first instincts are to shoot and kill someone "like the old west?" These politicians should look out into their own violent streets and realize that the criminal element is already shooting up the streets, and by restricting (legal) gun owners they are giving all the power to the criminals and stripping the law abiding citizen of their protection. Morons. ewill3rd 06-27-08, 07:20 AM Then, why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West? You have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle in the streets.
