So Im Going to look at this Car on Fri, and I ran the Vin and it says;

APPLICABLE WARRANTIES
Description Effective Date Effective Odometer End Date End Odometer
48/50000 BUMPER TO BUMPER LIMITED WARRANTY 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2008 50018 miles
72/UNLIMITED SHEET METAL COVERAGE RUST THROUGH LIMITED WARRANTY 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2010 Unlimited miles
96/80000 FEDERAL EMISSION CATALYTIC CONV. AND PCM 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2012 80018 miles
48/50000 CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2008 50018 miles
84/70000 CALIFORNIA SELECT COMPONENT 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2011 70018 miles
72/100000 LUXURY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED LIMITED WARRANTY 07/12/2004 18 miles 07/12/2010 100018 miles

My Main Question is about the above Certified Pre-Owned Warranty. When I called they said that it isnt under warranty until stated above, but that I can buy that for $1800. I can choose not too and it will only last till 7/12/08, and 50k. But since its listed under the VIN doesnt that mean it comes with the car?? Are they just trying to get another 1800 bucks out of me? Or can they cancel that if I choose not to fork out the 1800?? Any Help would be appreciated.

I think they are trying to hose you. One of the Lindsay Cadillac guys will know for sure. Looks to me like its already been certified.

i noticed the same thing, called the dealer and they said that i am absolutely covered! they went on to say that they only sell pre-owned cars certified, even though they never informed me of that when i bought the car.

do not buy an extended warranty...you're covered. :thumbsup:

Don't think I would buy from them if the above statements are correct. You need to ask yourself what else could they be doing to "shaft" you....

Its from a very reputable dealer too.. I'm surprised, it even says on their website "Honesty Guaranteed" :histeric:

I bought my 05 from a private party. Took it in yesterday to a dealer, who said the warranty would cover the repairs. Never a question about coverage. Go to another dealer.

This is the response i got from the dealer;

"There is no record of a GMPP Service Contract for this vehicle. I looked at the GMVIIS and the warranty will expire in July. The prior customer would have to sign for a GMPP to be transferred to the new owner. He would then be waiving his refund due him from GM. The new owner would have to pay a transfer fee to get the warranty transfer from the old owner. The CPO is not transferable. The dealer who sells the vehicle with CPO gets the charge at the time of sell. We did the certified inspection, but we do not have to pay for the warranty until we sell the vehicle. Please have the other dealer run a GMVIIS. It does not show a GMPP. Please see the carfax we have provided. The vehicle has not ever been sold with the CPO Certification.

Please advise."

So is this True??

There is no GMPP on the car, so there is not service contract to transfer. And there is no pro rata cancel on a CPO. CPO follows the car, it is a warranty.
The cadillac CPO program is run in-house at Cadillac, so I don't know the exact details.
I will do some more searching.

Thanks Bigron, The Only thing i can think of, is that The Dealer is the one who put the CPO on the VIN, and if i dont pony up the dough they will cancel it. But it just doesnt make sense to me, something just seems weird. I might just pass on the car all together, kinda has more miles than i want.

Did you run a carfax? How many owners?
If it is 1 owner then the dealer is telling the truth. More than 1 there is reasonable doubt.

Yea I read the CarFax and TWO OWNERS! Thats why I figured the second owner bought the car with the CPO already. It even says the 1st owner was leasing the car. But there saying when they buy the car the CPO doesnt transfer :cookoo:
