View Full Version : "Back To The Fifties" 2008 car show. Many pics inside! I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-23-08, 02:35 PM This is the largest car show in Minnesota, and one of the 10 largest in the country. During peak time, there's over 11,000 cars here, all older than 1965, from all over the country. I went Friday morning-afternoon and saw a fair amount. Here's what I saw...
First of all, I went into the auction area to see what I could buy if I had money...lol.

A cool 1979 T/A. First year for the "four square" front end and last year for the big 6.6L V8.

*Beautifiul* 1978 Eldorado, 22k miles. I would have bid on this, too bad it wasn't a Biarritz.

1969 Impala Hardtop Coupe, came equipped with the 335hp 427. Very rare.

Original LS6 (450hp 454) '70 Chevelle SS. Arguably the most desirable muscle car ever.

I always liked those '79-'85 Toronados, this is a 1979.
More pictures to come later, these were just from the auction! I would kill for that Chevelle :drool: gdwriter 06-23-08, 06:17 PM I would kill for that Chevelle :drool:I'd maim for the Impala. :histeric: dkozloski 06-23-08, 07:01 PM To heck with the Eldorado. Look at the "bathtub" Packard across from it. dwight.j.carter 06-23-08, 09:38 PM My grandpa use to sell Packard when he was young. I would kill for the Yenko Camaro ! To heck with the Eldorado. Look at the "bathtub" Packard across from it.
I am with you dKoz, I like the '46 or '47 Packard across from the Eldo. My Dad's 1940 One Twenty carried our family through WWII and then three times coast-to-coast and was still going strong when it was traded for a new 1950 Custom Eight. Actually the car pictured in Chad's photo is not a "bathtub" Packard. The "bathtub" (and they were) were produced from late '47 to '50. The car pictured is a "Clipper" bodied Packard which started production in late 1941 and were discontinued in 1942 for the duration of the war. This was the car that was produced when production resumed after WWII in 1946. Personally I very much prefer the Clipper bodied cars to the ungainly "bathtub" Packards that replaced them. dirt_cheap_fleetwood 06-23-08, 10:11 PM To heck with the Eldorado. Look at the "bathtub" Packard across from it.
I'm with you, to hell with the Trans Am, I wanna see the Thunderbird next to it. ryannel2003 06-23-08, 10:17 PM Lovin the Eldorado. That Chevelle was stunning as well. I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-24-08, 12:26 AM More!

'59 Dodge. The '57 Chrysler my dad had was the same salmon/coral color as this one.

'59 Cadillac and a ~'63 Connie. The two polar opposites of American Luxury from that era.

'64 Fleetwood Limousine. To make the limousine, Cadillac cut a coupe deVille in half, stretched it out, added a '59 windshield to it. Pretty neat.

'57 Coupe deVille.

'61 XKE. Pretty rare to find a foreign car at the show.

'57 Chrysler New Yorker and a 1958 or 1959 Imperial. I love the 1957-59 Mopars. :D I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-24-08, 12:27 AM http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Chadillac8705/2008%20Back%20To%20The%20Fifties/IMG_2222.jpg

One of my all time favorites, the '58 Plymouth. It just looks sinister. I Don't know why that girl is in the picture though.... :bigroll:

'59 Imperial, another badass car. The grille looks like the one off of a '51 Ford Truck...

'59 Buick Invicta, another very intimidating looking car.

'58 Continental Mark III Convertible. The 1958 Lincoln is without a doubt, my favorite 1950s car ever. The only way this could be any more awesome if it was the hardtop sedan with the reverse slanted, power retracting rear window.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Chadillac8705/2008%20Back%20To%20The%20Fifties/IMG_2235.jpg
'70 Challenger R/T 440 6pack. Awesome.

Another '57 Chrysler, this one is the lower level Saratoga. It went (from bottom to top) Windsor, Saratoga, New Yorker and then the 300C. We had the Windsor four door sedan.

I love the 1990-02 SL Mercedes.
And that concludes the 2008 Back To The Fifties. ryannel2003 06-24-08, 01:06 AM Is it me, or does the red on that '57 Coupe DeVille look similar to the Crystal Red tintcoat Cadillac currently uses? Maybe even a hint of the Crimson Red of the Seville's? Idk, maybe its because its late or I'm just crazy as hell. Cadillacboy 06-25-08, 02:26 PM The Continental is what I like the most among those beauties The Continental is what I like the most among those beauties
Which Continental are you refering to; the three I see here represent three totally different design themes on a personal luxury car. I prefer the hardtop suicide door Lincolns myself. | |
