It might be a stupid question, but i am asking it anyway. I am look at a 05 CTS-V vs. 06 CTS-V and was wondering if one is more fuel efficient then the other, cause one running a LS2 engine and the other a LS6 engine? And which you guy think is better?

Thanks in advance

So all the folks here going to be biased with the year they have. One of the deciding factors for me was 1. 06 was new and warranty would last longer that is when I bought it and also it has a bit stronger back end than the 05. But I am sure all will chime in with their opinion.

Still you cannot go wrong with either:yup:

LS2's probably have better gas mileage because they're slower.

Slow enough to put in trucks anyways.

I just bet my friend to see how many post it would take to stir the pot - I won instantly only 1 reply. slower 06 - I guess thats why I got the maggie to keep up with you 05's- yeah right slower :lildevil:

 I had to make you right!

But on a serious note, I doubt either gets any better gas mileage. Like qqik4u said, '06 = longer warranty, that is unless you get a certified '05.

At this point, you can get pretty much any mod you want for either engine, so it doesn't much matter (other than my previous post, of course).

06 will have some added electronics like home link and steering wheel controls too.

Warranty be dammed. I wanted an 04 so thats what I got. Just buy the one you want and drive. Nobody should really consider MPG when buying this car.

I might be wrong (hell, I seem to ALWAYS be wrong :crybaby:), but I thought the '05 had a higher EPA mileage rating than the '06.

But, as the owner of an LS6, I think the LS2 is putting out a bit more hp than the LS6 stock vs stock.

If fuel economy is anywhere in your top ten list of priorities, keep looking. This type of car is not for you.

In a somewhat related question, can someone update this chart: Comparison Chart of CTS-V Model years (http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/my-chart.html)? There are a lot of "TBD" entries for 2007. We probably know enough about the 2009 to add some entries for it too.

everything in the 06 column goes for 07 as well... only thing that sucks is the GM logo, but a hairdryer, fishing line, and some goo gone take care of that quite quickly

It's not a priority, just thought I would ask.

I picked up an 06 about two months ago. I have been checking my "Average Fuel Economy" at every fill up. I have been getting around 13.2. Does this seem low? Anybody else getting around this? Thanks in advance.

Stock, I used to get 21 all the time. Now, I'm at 19.5 with current mods. My five-year-old sitting in the back keeps my speed way down.

With the mods in my signature I average right at 20 with a good mix of driving:devil:

You guys are all doing better than me of 10.3 - But all city driving though. Still I thought I should be around 13 at least :ill:

I don't think either car has anything that's a deal breaker. Just get the better car (miles, warranty, color you like, etc)
I'm usually around 10 mpg. :yup:

I'm around this amount on my overall MPG. I did a LOT of highway miles this weekend and somehow averaged ~19 MPG, but that's very rare. Factor in any significant city driving and my MPG go way down.

Hahhahahaha :histeric: that's awesome!

I have the LS6... stock, it makes the same 400HP that the stock LS2 does. LS6 = 5.7L and LS2 = 6.0L......with that close of a range, who cares? I agree with everyone else, it's a personal preference. Go with the one that you can get a better deal on!

Oh and I'm hanging around the 14mpg-15mpg.....and yes my pedal gets kicked alot ha

All highway, 70 or less I get 25-27 depending on wind.(I know I drive like a wimp) If I'm mostly city I usually get 14-15. This is with Gods motor. Oops, I mean the ls6, sorry about that.

I have 04 but would have bought 06 if I had the cash.
-lower peak torque- I do lots of city driving
-steering wheel radio controls- weak ,I know but my last car had it. It wouldn't be an issue BUT, to treat the dash buttons like a high school date's tits so they won't "peel".
-stock Corsa (right?)
- longer under the $0 ded warranty, meaning less time driving it like an antique ferrari. seems small but could be significant in the long run.
- since its a truck motor, you can tow a boat with it.

dont want to jack the thread even more with the MPG talk but I systemically average about 16.7
I think the CPU is wrong.
NOTE- I am in a 2008 v6 SRX loaner right now, and the gas mileage is horrible!. I mean horrible. Way worse than my V. I have put 35.00 in it in just 2 days. 24 mi total commute.

I just got my 05 V completely rebuilt and I do not have a clue what mpg I am getting, if I had to guess I would say anywhere from .5 to 1 mpg!!:yup:

Honestly, find a car you like and buy it, and oh yeah, make sure its a V!!!

I have an '06 and drove an '05 yesterday. Here are some nit picky things I noticed:

'06 Steering wheel volume control. It's the button I use most often in the car.
'05 door lock button. I lock my door with the button on the door most often. It saves battery life and button wear on the key fob. In the '05 the darn button beeps at you and makes you hit it again before it locks the door. I suppose this is to make sure you have your keys, but you'd get in the habit of hitting it twice anyway, without checking your keys.
XMNavtraffic. I'm not sure if the '05 allows you to use XMNav traffic if you have an XM subscription. I had to convince the XM operator that my car was capable of using it.
'05 Twin Turbo - Heck of a lot more power - wait a minute, you say that's not stock? :) Never mind.

I'm getting about 17ish MPG. I do mostly city some stock and go (only a couple of miles) and about 9 miles of highway at 80mph a day. I drive pretty easy as well.
