There was little damage to the A123-manufactured lithium-ion battery pack which suggests that some other hybrid component could have been the cause of the fire and subsequent explosion -- this could be somewhat of a relief to many who still express reservations with regards to installing numerous lithium-ion cells in passenger vehicles.

[And a relief to GM, who is considering A123 as a battery supplier for the Volt.]

.........but does it keep "going, and going, and going" ??? I mean, heck, as seen on NFL Football a single Energizer can light Manhattan. Just think what 30,000 in a PRIUS could do......Space Shuttle!

I clicked on this just for "modified prius" but the whole 'catches fire' bit was just icing on the cake...:histeric:

This (the whole epic fail on the Prius's part) is like music to my ears, just hope nobody was hurt.

Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

I got a kick out of the Prius on Ebay that was barely out of warranty that had to be scrappd because the repair parts would cost around $14,000.

Just wait, the more of these that go out of warranty this worse this will all get.

By the way, don't any of these tree hugging eco-freaks realize where electricity comes from?
Isn't one of the biggest issues these 'tards have about electric plants?
So how is generating more electricity to run cars better?
:histeric:

On a related note I got to see a Hydrogen Fuel cell GM test vehicle the other day. It was pretty cool.
I have some pictures I can post if you guys want to see them.

That's like that goofy Chevy Volt. The first fifty miles you're on the battery and everything is loking good. When the battery goes flat you have to start the gas engine powered generator and you've got just another under powered gas driven car but now you're dragging along a big dead battery that no longer helps at all. The generator doesn't have enough poop to drive the car uphill and charge the battery at the same time. It's insanity.

Wow, I wasn't aware they had already selected pre-production beta testers...

Read for yourself. It's an electric battery car that has a generator to rescue it when it gets beyond the normal range of the battery. The batery is normaly plugged in to charge it.
