I have a 93 Eldorado with the Bose Gold Series that has developed an occasional crackle from the right rear speaker. The volume level does not appear to affect when or how loud the crackle is. The fader also seems to have no effect. I believe the speakers have a mini-amp mounted on the speaker. Is the amp the promlem or is it the head unit or remote receiver? Thanks for any input.

In my experience crackle has to do with either a) not enough power going to the speaker or b) the speaker itself having a problem.
I'd read the volts on the wires going to the speaker. I never really played with the BOSE in my eldo, so I'm not entirely too sure which way to point you.
I can say that installing aftermarket 6x9s with a component amp will give you loads better sound. Just be ready to rewire just about everything.

i agree the crack sounds like a loose wire on the speaker does it get louder when the volume is up and when its down its less of a crackle
