Well the Lindsay Cadillac V-II track day October 20th on Summit Point's main circuit is already about 1/3 full. Give Luke Butler of Lindsay a call at (703) 824-9670 to make your reservation for the track day. I feel the main course (not the one we ran in May) is MUCH more suited for the CTS-V.
Feel free to ring me at (314) 249-3770 if you have any questions. Happy Motoring!

What about the STS-V, the mad shiftless wonder, yo? dhemrick 07-15-08, 01:20 PM I'm planning on bringing my STS-V to this event and am very much looking forward to it. I've never tracked this car before (or any car for that matter), so this will be a new experience for me.
Which reminds me... I need to get my paperwork in. Oops! LITTLEELVISDAN 07-15-08, 03:08 PM The slower, smaller CTS-V might have the advantage in the twisties since they don't have to break as hard to get the right entry speed but that is the only place our lesser, little-er brother will have an advantage.:stirpot: Lindsay Cadillac Parts 07-17-08, 08:07 AM People signed up so far..........
16 CTS-V's
2 STS-V's
1 supercharged CTS
1 Katech Z06
1 maserati
like Feff said we are about 1/3 full and I have a number of registration forms out that we are waiting to get back (you know who you are!!) the 3 months till the event are going to fly by, sign up early to avoid the rush!!!

I just bought a STS-V and recently joined this site (great web site btw). If it is open to everyone, do you guys trailer your car there? I live in North Jersey and my truck isn't really made to tow my 4300 lb STS-V beast so i'd have to drive it there. My only concern is racing it hard and hoping not to break anything - drive it like you stole it i always say : ) thebigjimsho 07-17-08, 11:42 PM Is the event open to everyone? I'm driving my STS-V from Raleigh, NC to there. I'm looking forward to the trip as there is some beautiful country up there. I think there is only one other STS-V registered at the moment, also from NC. I'd sure love to have you come and up the STS-V contingent. ewill3rd 07-18-08, 07:13 AM I think there are already two STS-V's on the roll call.
Another one would be great! I was impressed by the one we had on the last V day and I think this track would really let that car shine!
We have guys who drive from really far out, if you are going to drive you might as well bring the V. As noted, we are only about an hour and a half away from Summit should any issues arise.
It should only be about 5 hours depending on where you are in Jersey. I can get from White Plains to here in about 5 hours down the Turnpike and down through Baltimore when I go for training up in NYC.
Also as noted, it isn't a "Race" ;)
It is just a day at the track having a good time and seeing what you and your car can do. saleenc330 07-20-08, 02:54 PM i think i need to give the guys at Lindsay a call to register. Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm in Morristown, NJ. Anyone from the NY/NJ/CT/PA area going? I'll probably stick to the west route and go through Harrisburg PA, down 81. Going through Baltimore down 95 can be a crap shoot. Lindsay Cadillac Parts 07-21-08, 12:10 PM i think i need to give the guys at Lindsay a call to register. Sounds like a lot of fun! give me a call at 703-824-9670 to get signed up. Twitch comes out of NYC and sefa01 from somewhere in NJ. a few guys are signed up from PA but I cant recall there forum names. post on the V-Day II thread on the CTS-V page and I'm sure they will chime in.

Luke I am coming from Indiana..there are guys from Chicago coming too...lets go guys..no distance is too far for this. Look forward to hearing from you. Lindsay Cadillac Parts 08-29-08, 11:11 PM unoficially 3 STS-V's signed up so far, thats 3 times as many as the first V-Day!! about 30 CTS-V's on the list and a handful of other makes (Vette, Porsche, Maserrati, GTO) people are starting to hop off the fence so if there's any more STS-V guys thinking about it, DO IT!! ssstealth 09-15-08, 09:43 PM Calling out all STS-V owners... YOU MUST DO THIS!!! I can not express to you how impressed you will be with your car once you learn to push it to where it wants to be driven. The track time will give you more confidence on the opwn road as well. This along with the fellowship of like minded Caddy folk makes for one hell of a good time.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j248/ssstealth/STS-V/v-day/IMG_42862.jpg Lindsay Cadillac Parts 09-16-08, 03:54 PM ONLY a handful of spots left in the novice class. call ASAP to get registered
Luke---703-824-9670 saleenc330 10-17-08, 05:33 PM Luke, I tried calling you at the dealer but you were already gone for the day - so I'm hoping you get this before Monday. I also called Mark but he told me to reach out to you. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend on Monday. Long story short, my local dealer is still working on my car, despite it being there since Tuesday. All they needed to do was replace a bad CAT and the previous dealer stripped and snapped the bolts (according to this dealer). Well they won't have the parts til Monday and they say they can't make the car drive-able. I am beyond PISSED right now! I just got done yelling at the GM of the dealership. I was really looking forward to running at Summit and meeting everyone. I'm sorry for leaving the spot open but believe me when I say I really did not want to miss this. I was actually watching u-tube clips last night, trying to learn the track lines.
So for anyone in North Jersey - DO NOT GO TO THE NEW MAHWAH CADDY DEALER ON RT17! Brogan of Ridgewood closed and most of the good techs went to Totowa on RT46 - so go there instead. I know I will from now on. Hope you guys have a blast at V-Day II and I hope you can post some pics too. ssstealth 10-17-08, 06:30 PM Make them give you an '09 CTS as a courtesy car and drive it instead!!! Problem solved. dhemrick 10-17-08, 08:26 PM That really sucks. So far as I know, that will only leave 2 STS-Vs running (myself and Bill). I was looking forward to meeting more STS-V owners.
I agree with Bill's suggestion. The only fair resolution is to let you drive a new CTS-V while your STS-V is in the shop. dhemrick 10-23-08, 11:18 AM I just wanted to let everyone know that, at least from my perspective, V-Day II was a roaring success. Despite the fact that one of the instructors caused a delayed start to the day because he plowed his Vette off the track on the very first lap due to cold tires (it was 26 degrees F out in the morning), it was a veritable heap of fun.
Although there were a TON of CTS-Vs present, there were only two STS-Vs present (Bill "The Intimidator" from Winston-Salem and myself). I was hoping to see more. I know we lost one STS-V attendee to dealer ineptness when fixing his car. :want:
I am hoping to see more STS-V owners out at the next one. I cannot begin to tell you how much fun this is. You really meet some nice people, and you learn a heck of a lot. One of those rare educational yet fun opportunities.
So, if any of you guys are in the mid-atlantic region, I would highly recommend this event. There were guys from NY, MD, NJ, OH, NC, VA, WV and I think I saw one GA plate.
If you are intersted, Bill (ssstealth) posted some great in-car video taken in his STS-V as it was being driven by racing champ Andy Pilgrim which you can see in this thread from the CTS-V forum:
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-v-series-forum-2004/152517-show-me-v-day-ii.html
Another CTS-V driver also posted some great videos here:

In the video entitled "Second vid of 4th session", he is following me for a while. Of course, I was getting backed up behind slower drivers which was becoming irritating, so I eventually waved the guy by and dropped back to give myself some open room to run.
My top speed that I know of was 137 on the relatively short straightaway. thebigjimsho 10-26-08, 01:58 AM If getting stuck behind traffic, just pit-in. Slowing down can lead to problems on course but pitting in gives you the opportunity to get onto whatever cycle you please... dhemrick 10-26-08, 07:22 PM If getting stuck behind traffic, just pit-in. Pitting in was how I dropped back. :cool2: ssstealth 10-27-08, 08:52 PM Dale is correct... A fantastic day of driving with good friends, some old, some new.
I went with my Dad and youngest son. My dad drove up from GA to NC and then we made the trip to Winchester. A good group of about 20-30 joined up for dinner at the "Glory Days" grill and took in a good meal. We got all gassed up and headed out early for the mandatory drivers meeting. Red and Yellow groups remained for another session while I went out with te green group for the first laps. On my second lap the red flag came out and we had to park it on te track. I watched in the mirror as Gary walked out of the woods and met the ambulance. I never saw the car buried in the woods... just a wheel out near the track. I was sure that it was a mechanical failure. we pulled in and parked while the crew strategized how to remove the car. They decided to wait until lunch since it was invisible to drivers and trees would have to be cut to remove it.
After that, the next group went out to give it a try. I got the first ride with Andy Pilgrim at the wheel. We walked past a long line of CTS-V's up to my car. Andy commented that he owned an STS-V so I was comforted that he would not drive it straight into the tires somewhere ;) My Dad rode shotgun while I sat in the back and manned the camera.
FHYwaMdvGmQ
He set out and ran smooth but strong and definately had fun with it. We got one lap in and quickly came up on traffic of about 3 cars. After getting the wave he jumped back on it and then shot up to the next group of traffic. At the end of the second lap, we all got waved off the track because the ambulance had left the property.
The next hour was dominated by a heated discussion of cold tires and turn 9.
While the ambulance was gone we finally settled on some 35mph "touring" laps to at least get some track time. When it returned, i was on... the sun was out and the asphalt was hot. The tires got sticky and some good laps finally occured.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j248/ssstealth/STS-V/v-day%202/IMG_9090.jpg
Dale got to run some laps with my car, both with my Dad and my son driving. I did make a red group run later in the day with an instructor and learned even more. By the end of the day I logged a couple laps faster than Andy had run in my car with the cold track.
My final tally was 266 miles on the track. The water temperature never moved, the oil temp maxed at 255d. and the left front tire was the only one with any sign of abuse. My only hairy moment was when the remaining 3 gallons of fuel all went to the left side of the car in turn 2 and I stalled out in front of the Z06 Vette. I had to leave and fill up with gas again.
After all was done, we loaded up for a very comfortable ride home. There is definately something to be said for a car that can spend all day on the track like that and still be used on the highway. Again, if you have the chance, put your V on the track. You will be amazed what it is capable of when pushed. dhemrick 10-28-08, 11:15 AM You summed it up very well, Bill. As they say, "A good time was had by all." I certainly learned a lot.
I'm glad you mentioned the car oil temperature. I was amazed at how rock steady the temperature on my car stayed. The morning was cool at 26 degrees F at 7:00AM, but it quickly warmed up to about 62 degrees F by midday. I my oil temperature never really climbed much above normal range even after repeated hard laps, but I was the only driver so my car got more rest than Bill's did. I would leave my hood open "just in case" when I was off track, but I really don't think that was ever necessary.
The same fuel starvation issue happened to me coming out of turn 2 as well. I was at about 1/8 tank, took the turn hard, and the car lost power and started bucking. Once I straightened back out, it ran OK for the rest of the lap, but it was time to pit for some gas. It happened to a lot of the CTS-V guys as well.
In the picture below, Bill's car is the one in front with mine behind it sporting the lovely blue painter's tape "Home Depot special" headlight covers. :werd: ewill3rd 10-28-08, 12:50 PM A hard right turn sloshes the fuel back over to the left side of the tank, that takes it away from the pump and the pump has to siphon fuel back to the right because the pump is actually on the right side of the tank.
An unfortunate thing to say the least... in a right hand turn anyway. ssstealth 10-28-08, 06:16 PM Yes... 3 gallons is NOT enough for turn 1 and 2. LITTLEELVISDAN 10-28-08, 11:35 PM No 115 octane at the track? would have been interesting to see if you noticed any difference. dhemrick 10-29-08, 11:05 AM No 115 octane at the track? would have been interesting to see if you noticed any difference.
It was available.... for $7.25 a gallon. :annoyed: ssstealth 11-06-08, 10:58 AM Still 57000 miles left on my warranty... I ain't puttin' nothing strange in it till that is done. |
