: ANOTHER 6 disc problem...

New to me 02 STS.

Has the Bose, with 6 disc.

Had no problem at first. Loaded the tray, and had it play...

The next morning, it wouldnt read it(I guess, was on my way to work, w/o time to mess with it), so I pulled the mag, popped a disc, put it in the head unit, and off I went....

After work, it read the changer just fine.

Replaced the battery, and NOW, the icon the radio that denotes the changer(looks like a stack of CDs I guess), just flashes....

WILL NOT eject the magazine, and I can see a red light inside flashing at a slow interval(on approx 2x longer than off)....

Any insight?

Thanks,
Chase

Make sure you open and shut the disc load door on the cassette while it is pushed down in the console unit.

There is a dealer TSB or bulletin on the 6-CD changer and a loss of serial communication with the head unit which causes a false loaded signal. I just turn the radio on and pop the changer and insert it. Good for the last 6 months this time.

Well, I dont know what you were trying to convey... BUT...

BUT, I open the door, press the Eject button... nadda, okay, close door, and attempt to initialize.... nadda.....

blah blah...

I have turned the radio on, and off, to no avail...

By "pop", I am not sure what you mean, but...

My next thought is to yank this damn thing out, and kick it up and down the street....

The changer DOES NOT respond to anything I do...

Maybe I should pull it out of the console, and unplug, it...and plug it back in.....

Not that major of a deal, I will toss this bose thing, and put a different head unit in...

With the sound system OFF, open and close the changer sliding door. Push the changer down firmly and turn the system ON. Hopefully the system will recognize that the changer is in place. If not, I'm lost.

I pop out (remove) the changer and reinsert it if the icon does not appear on the head unit. It resets the source sensing and the icon lights up.

Once in a while I remove the changer and vacuum out the receptacle.

You may find that just installing a different head unit will turn into a nightmare. The whole Bose system from pushbuttons to speakers is an interlinked system and most of it will not function with aftermarket equipment. You may also run into problems with various equipment in the car not working because of serial data loss in the wiring system. Do some in-depth homework before you start cutting wires.

Hook up with STS2003.......He's good at this stuff.

then it likely is truly jammed
at this point id say buy some good mini drivers and begin disassembling it to release the magazine to see what jammed it...

No worries.

Okay, got it apart, it was tryign to jam a CD into a slot with the CD already in there.... misaligned?

Anyway, there is a small piece of plastic that popped out, not broken....rectangle with a 45* corner....

Any idea where this goes?

Thanks for the help...

Thats cool, because....

Put it back together(minus the side case, and pocket), plugged it in....

The rack moved around a little... inserted the cassette... and... notta.. .still flashing LED on head unit....

THEN, it wouldnt eject again....

Unplugged it, the cassette popped out....

Tried to put it back in, it wont latch....

SO....

This is where I am at....
