Well I just bought this car from my mother-in-law about 4 days ago. It has the N* engine and only about 21k miles on it. I drove it home and have probably logged about 300 miles on the car. I was pretty excited about owning it until yesterday. I went to lunch and it ran perfect, then went to start with no firiing at all. I noticed the security light is on while I am cranking it but I am not sure if that is supposed to happen or if I have an issue with the pass-key. If that was the issue would it still let the starter engage, just no ignition? Are there some usual suspects for this year and model? Fuel pump, pressure regulator, etc? Thanks, in advance, for any help.

With only 21K on it I would not suspect the fuel pump. Security light is a big clue. Pull the DTC's.

How much fuel in it? Hard to diagnose over the internet but assuming no spark, I would suspect crank angle sensor. Do a "search" regarding crank sensor. If you are NOT a mechanic, tow it to a shop not starting. If its not starting for the technician, it will be quicker to diagnose.

Turns out it was the fuel pump. Not the mileage that got it but the fact it has sat submersed in the tank for the last 12 years. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Thanks for the follow up. Still rare though. My 84 Eldo has had its pump submerged in gas since 1983!

WOW, very premature for a fuel pump to go at that mileage(unless it was an early '80's Blazer:mad:).
