HI! i'm new but not new to cadillac sevilles--i own a 1995 cadillac seville sts with 4.6 northstar engine. My ac compressor is "shot" i think--very noisy --just wondering if i can use a shorter drive belt and bypass the ac comp. until i get it to a garage and get the system replaced. thanks!!!

I haven't done it, but saved some notes on the bypass belt.
Bypass belt: 74.5" approx $25 (Goodyear 4060745 or AC Delco 6k739). This was for a newer 4.6, but I'm guessing it would be the same for your 95. You just thread the shorter belt directly from the right side of the crankshaft over the top of the idler pulley instead of around the A/C clutch thus bypassing. This would also work to your favor if you wanted to DIY as you could remove the old compressor, and get the system flushed with the car still drivable.
I used the AC Delco 6k739 on my '95 SLS.
$33 at NAPA.

they do make a bypass bracket/pulley that lets you use stock belt. or get shorter belt. think bracket costs more. 40?
