theres going to testing close to me in a couple weeks and I was thinking about getting my license. what ya think?

Many moons ago I was active (N1FJP). No longer have the time, however in the wake of 9/11 I did dust off some of the gear and set up a small listening post (for info). I think it is a great idea and you should take your test if that is your interest. When my brother was stationed in Antartica a local ham help set up a relay so we could stay in touch! That was very nice, talk about DX ing that was quite a trip! Go for it. Good luck ... --- ...!
